Unfortunately I do not think this is due to any bug in XOOPS (nothing that I can find, at least), and I *suspect* this to be a memory issue with the earlier versions of PHP.

This is a wild guess, but I *suspect* that the later versions of PHP are more efficient at allocating a large number of objects.

Is there no way at all to get round this by any chance, I run a managed server, and contacted my host who manages and they won't upgrade, so I would have to go for root server, but little knowledge of linux.

Erm........ I stuck........

Any suggestions welcome.

I suspect your particular problem (only cannot mail to large groups) is related to this:

https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=10304&forum=21#40705

If you can turn on *all* debugging options (see some tips on the wiki under 'troubleshooting'), see if you see a 'memory exhausted' error. If so, then I'm afraid all we can suggest so far is upgrading to PHP 4.3.1 or higher. With no other changes, this has solved the problems with users of 4.1.2 and 4.2.2.

yeah, I've been using it for a few weeks now - it worked out of the box for me... the main complaint I have right now is deleting files doesn't delete the file - it just adds a 'restore' link on the right side of the file list.
Other than that, it's been fine.

Only administrators can see the 'restore' link. Normal users cannot. The reason for this is to make it easy to restore a document. Maybe a choice should be added on the administrative/configuration screen.

Hello,

This sounds like a permissions problem in your repository directory. Make sure that you have the correct directory set on the module administration page and make sure that Apache has the permissions to write to this directory.

File Upload Feature in Downloads Module

Using XOOPS 2.0.3.

I would like to be able to upload a file to a folder under XOOPS when adding a new download to the "Downloads" modules. The new download would link to the newly uploaded file instead of linking to some other file off site.

Alternatively, a module or hack to add an upload or file manager feature to XOOPS would be great.

Any pointers, anyone?
