Fatman:

I really like this mod.

I, as well, am interested in the ssl thing. Would one way to handle this be to use the ssl login option in XOOPS where the client is asked to login via a secure page? It seems like some of the ssl stuff is already there.

Well, don't know much about php or programming. Just a thought. Good work.

That's not where I'm having the prob. Check out www.anacys.com/imba/ I have the news module set as the home page default there -- which is what I want to get rid of. anacys.com proper has no news published -- just the demo site at /imba/

What do you want to get rid of, exactly? The way that it points to the news module, or the news articles themselves?

I'm sure I'm missing something, but perhaps your better option would be to choose one aother module (such as iContent) as your Start Page via ADMIN | PREF | GENERAL then add your content to that module. Or, maybe to keep the news module as your top page and minimize the amount of news that shows, and maximize the blocks that flow in from the other modules.

I'm still not sure why more news blocks aren't showing up in your blocks admin page.

I'm pretty much tapped out with suggestions, being an amateur...

dhansen:

I went to your site and the News Module showed up for me, just fine, if I clicked on the News link on the right hand of the page. It's just that there were no articles.

Have you tried posting an article?

I was thinking that your News Module wasn't working (and perhaps it still isn't). But, I don't think you would have a visible news module at all if it weren't working.

Does this really go back to your initial question,

I don't think that this is possible, though I willingly (and happily) stand to be corrected. Indeed, I wonder if some of your news blocks would show up again if your News module was set to the top page module.

Maybe update the news module on the module administration page?

I am not one of the regular support types around here, so I should prob. shut up, as I prob don't really understand correctly what you're saying, but, are you SURE you want the news module turned off which is what happens when you set the news module to NONE??

Maybe try turning the news module on as your top page, then adjkust which news blocks you want to show each group from the blocks menu and from the groups menu.

If you want the main page to end up at news, like it does here at xoops.org, then you want the top page to be news.

If, as I was afraid of in my first paragraph, this is not what you were referring to and I have totally misunderstood what you are asking, please ignore this post and I'll slink off into the night (or daytime, depending on where you are ) HTH

DonXoop:

You are, of course, right. Truthfully, given his avatar, I thought "moderately interesting" would be far enough short of praise, that it would serve to be more irritating . And, I doubt that he has any more invested in his sites than most of the rest of us.

Still, I wanted to try to give him some credit.

Of course, that was before I read this .

You have a moderately interesting site, with a nice design. It's understandable that you have a big investment in making it as perfect as it can be.

Most of us, however, recognize that the devs around here have other things that they do with their lives. Had you been here a while longer, you would know that Catz gets regular requests for the release of whatever mod he is working on. As Serge said Quote:
Catzwolf has stated on several occasions that WF-sections 1.1 has a lot of bugs and that if used then used at own risk etc.
. What part of that don't you understand? Even with the bugs, many of us are happy with it this mod. We are comfortable with develomental software, understanding that there will be bugs, that we may (or may not) be able to use it for our purposes, and that by reporting bugs, over time the mod will be improved. Indeed, many of us are anxious for new and developmental mods to try (test). This is the development cycle of this kind of software. What is hard about that?

Oh, and one more thing. Had you been here a while longer, you would have some comprehension of the contributions that Catz makes to this community.

Should you have a desire to make it better, instead of complaining (a better word is perhaps damning), do as your avatar suggests, and lift it yourself.

Yes, xcGallery has an e-card feature. At the moment, there are some bugs in it, but they do not appear across the board, and the author is working on it See some of the comments here. I can hardly wait for the bugs to get fixed, though. This is a nice module, and even with e-cards not working, I really like it.

This is a realy great mod. OUr virtual host won't let us us it due to the fact that it uses a text file rather than MySQL but I enjoyed testing it out!

Great job!
