Re: Looking for eCal v2.24

The best information I can find on this is in this thread:
https://xoops.org/modules/newbb/viewtopic.php?topic_id=9138&forum=4

The best I can determine, it is being maintained by a user named sylvainb and he has a site at http://larando.com/ .

Unfortunately, I could not get the site to come up, though. My other thought was to try to find it at the Inconnueteam web site, but, you have to register. I'm not sure if it that version would be there.

Re: Basic "link to file" system?

OK, I missed your goal of bypassing FTP.

WFSections may be a good module to try. I know that it has a filemanager to attach files to articles. It is one of the most popular and well-supported modules for Xoops, so if it meets your needs, that would be a good one to use.

Perhaps the Filemanager module or the Document Management module would do what you are trying to do. Unfortunately, I've not used either one, perhaps another user will comment.

Xoops 2 Modules

Modscentral: XOOPS 2 Modules

Re: Basic "link to file" system?

While you are waiting for a better answer, here is a suggestion. It would work as follows:

Ask the person uploading the file to give each newsletter a unique filename, such as 2003maynews.doc for a newsletter from May 2003.

Have them upload the file. Then upload the file again as currentnews.doc.

In a custom block, you could create a link to currentnews.doc.

Re: Don't forget about the accesibility

This is one area where I would think that the ability for users to choose and keep their own theme was a benefit.

Accesibility could be tailored directly to the users needs.

Be there needs as in the above post, or if users are using different browsers, or say some prefer a "light" look or a "more featured" look. Flash or non-flash, different screen resoloutions and so on,

Shame imo no longer available as it does offer many more options to xoops. And opens more doors to users to use the site.

I think you can try the "Theme" Block:
System Admin | Blocks | Theme

I'm pretty sure it is an interface to allow users to choose a theme.

Perhaps it could be extended to read a cookie or an entry in the user DB to remember the chosen theme?

I know Ackbarr is using it, if you want to see a demo:

Re: How to get the lawyers off our back?

Maybe you can add a link in your footer. One to link to your privacy policy, one to link to your terms of use, one to link to a disclaimer, etc.

Not sure about the legal issues. Check out a site like amazon.com or epinions.com and read their disclaimers. They allow user reviews of products, which one might imagine might be negative at times.

Good luck.

Re: Attention Xoops RC3.0.4/3.0.5 Users

Yes, you are correct. This thread (which is old) refers to XOOPS 1.3.4 and 1.3.5. My goodness, even the 1.3 series is at 1.3.8 now. So this is a old thread and you need not worry.

(There will be a XOOPS 2 RC3 at a future date, but not yet... and, that's not what this is referencing.)

I could live with that. I think that is the "Magic Beans" module.

Re: Xoops 2 module wish list

I would like some generic database modules, where you can specify fields and operations... here are some examples.

moduleCreator:
http://www.aporta.com/modules/start/

Generic Database Module:
PN Generic Database Beta Module

Hooks Module Proposals:
PN Hooks Module Proposal

But, for performance and ease of use (read quality of code) reasons, I prefer XOOPS instead of switching to the CMS these modules are currently ported for.

Re: Image manager?

The image manager is to upload images, so you can use them in a theme or blocks, etc. etc. without using FTP.

Hopefully, that helps. If not, feel free to explain your question further, as suggested by w4z004.
