I'm excited about the development of search-engine positioning URL hacks but, IMHO, it doesn't seem like either one, ShortURLs or exploz is really ready for prime-time yet. The work done is great, but it seems like both developers are quite busy at the moment and are not able to do much (I hope no one is offended - just my impression, and I'm sure that there are many more important things that occupy them).

Concerning exploz, you may want to see this link on the developer's site. It may inform your decision as to whether to try to get the hack working or revert to your previous XOOPS install.

As to your issue, the exploz web site says that the hack is only set up for XOOPS 2.0.6. Could the problem be that you are running 2.0.7?

In any case, if it were me, I would overwrite all the module files with the original XOOPS module files from the version you had before you installed the hack. Then try updating... Then, if you want you can either try to reinstall the hack or wait til the hacks improve. That's what I would do. But, then again, I also had numerous experiments go bad on my home chemistry set.

But hopefully there will be someone along here shortly with a better idea...

Just trying to help...

Been using Firfox as my main browser for about six months now (with about an equal mumber of releases) and no problem here, either.

I'm looking forward to using this hack. I tried it in 2.0.7 but got the dreaded Module Not Found error (is this the XOOPS version of the MS Blue Screen of Death?). I tried different placement of the include statement in mainfile.php thinking that it might have something to do with that but still got the error. Let me know when you've updated it and I'll give it a whirl. IMHO, I think that this is a very good hack and that this approach or a similar one shold be considered for the core. Thanks for your work on this hack.

Edit: I tried an earlier version as wellbut it didn't seem to work well with some of my mods at that time.

Carnuke, you have some of the neatest dang things on your site. I didn't do much with the guestmap because I didn't want my email address exposed in a guestbook anywhere, but I still thought the app was cool (as are so many other things on your site - including the design!). keep up the great work!

I thought that tjnemez over at http://mindhealth.ca/ and http://www.dcdezines.ca/ had dome some work on this. BUt, I just checked out the former of the two sites and didn't see it at all. But, you may just want to check it out. Whether or not tjnemez was doing anything like this, you can check out this link.

I can only say that from my experience, when I use some FTP clients, they indicate that the file is writable, when it is indeed not. I have come to the place where I almost always use my web site control panel to verify and change my permission settings. Others will prob. have a better idea, though...

This is a great topic and one that deserves attention. Maybe it would benefit from its own forum here. The creativity in the way people are using XOOPS is marvelous. I posted a comment on the article that this thread inspired that may be of interest. It can be found here.

Or, of course, you could always do a search for "logo" in the search bar right on the home page. Save an awful lot of keystrokes...

As I remember (and I may very well be wrong in this recollection), in the far distant past, Catz withdrew from some of his activities due to health issues. His announcement at the time was quite cryptic. I guess that this post comes with the sincere hope that you are well, Catz, that you are taking care of yourself, and that you have prosperity and peace. You have indeed been professional in your worksmanship, abundantly creative, and selfless in the way that you have approached your work and donated your time.

I'm impreseed with what you're doing and look forward to seeing how this develops. If I found a dependable theme that worked well without tables, I believe I would switch to that as my default. I'd very much like to pear down the length of time it takes to load pages since most of our visitors are older and even elderly, and are using modems (as opposed to dsl or cable). Anyway, it's neat to see what you're doing...
