I go to site admin, and open the blocks item.
At the bottom I make a new block by typing a title and in the text field the code
[xurl=localhost/stnn/tncc.php]TNCC[/xurl].
(Without the XX)

That's all.
My goal is to make a menu like the Development menu on the left side of the XOOPS site: with all kind of links.

Thnx for troubling and greetings,

Ronaldus

New block with links??

Hai there,

the new XOOPS site looks and feels fine!!
I Yesterday installed XOOPS and started playing with it.
Looks fine!

My question:
I like to make a block on the left with some direct links to articles. I made a custom block with a title.
In the content field I typed the desired items, with links to the articles.
But this does not work, the only thing I see is the code:
[xurl=localhost/stnn/tncc.php]TNCC[/xurl].
(The x are added to show; the code works in this forum!)

What do I do wrong?

Thnx and greetings,

Ronaldus

Thanks for your suggestion, but it doesn't answer my question completely: typinghttp://test_mysite makes nothing happen.
Can this be due to the fact that Xampp and XOOPS are in 2 different directories?
(See above)

As I mentioned: Xampp works fine: all light are green!

Greetings,
Ronaldus

Indeed I copied the content of the directory, and not the directory itself.

I had a painless install of XAMPP. I placed it on D:xampp .
Apache and MySQL seem to work fine.

I tried several combinations in my browser. Your suggestion doesn't work:http://localhost/test_mysite gives: 'Cannot find page' in my browser.
What seems to work 'a little' is
http://localhost/D:Webs/test_mysite . However: then I get a message: Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /D:Webs/test_nvshv on this server.

Now what to do?

Hello there.

Perhaps a very stupid question from a newbie, but......
I'm trying to install XOOPS.
I copied all files from the HTML directory tot a directory on my local machine for experimenting, called D:\Webs\test_mysite (exact like this).

Now I'm supposed to start the installation by starting this site in my browser. But what is the URL of this site?
Is iehttp://localhost/and then what?

Thanks in advance and greetings,

Ronaldus

Can't find that on www.apachefriends.org...

As I replied yesterday to Mithrandir and Chapi I'm going to check out XAMPP and then XOOPS. Download, install, read documentation en FAQS in their site, play with it, get frustrated, spend a lot of time finding solutions for problems which can be solved in 10 seconds, (if you know what the problem is), and hopefully within a few months I get my website up and running!

Tnx for your reply!

You're right about my knowledge Mithrandir.
However, I'm an autodidact and found my way with HTML (http://www.nvshv.nl), so I think I'll learn during experimenting with XAMPP (what does that mean anyway?) and XOOPS.....

Thanks for your URL's.
