Hello there.

Perhaps a very stupid question from a newbie, but......
I'm trying to install XOOPS.
I copied all files from the HTML directory tot a directory on my local machine for experimenting, called D:\Webs\test_mysite (exact like this).

Now I'm supposed to start the installation by starting this site in my browser. But what is the URL of this site?
Is ie http://localhost/and then what?

Thanks in advance and greetings,

Ronaldus

If the URL http://localhost/ accesses the directory D:\Webs\, then your XOOPS URL would be http://localhost/test_mysite/

I'm assuming that you copied the contents of the XOOPS html directory to D:\Webs\test_mysite\, and not the html directory itself.

Indeed I copied the content of the directory, and not the directory itself.

I had a painless install of XAMPP. I placed it on D:xampp .
Apache and MySQL seem to work fine.

I tried several combinations in my browser. Your suggestion doesn't work: http://localhost/test_mysite gives: 'Cannot find page' in my browser.
What seems to work 'a little' is
http://localhost/D:Webs/test_mysite . However: then I get a message: Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /D:Webs/test_nvshv on this server.

Now what to do?

Start over here:

I don’t know if you already know that you have to set up a web server and a database on your local machine. I think that the documentation will help.

Thanks for your suggestion, but it doesn't answer my question completely: typing http://test_mysite makes nothing happen.
Can this be due to the fact that Xampp and XOOPS are in 2 different directories?
(See above)

As I mentioned: Xampp works fine: all light are green!

Greetings,
Ronaldus
