thanks for that info, the site is up now, a glitch on the host...actually seems to run faster (maybe it was partly the host server!?)

I have cached everything as well

I am finding my site

http://www.macmend.com/forum

slow to load.

I don't really know how to use the cache with modules and blocks and so on, can anyone advise me as to whats best.

I noted elsewhere if you set the cache and then look at an admin page that is the page that is cached and then the user sees the admin page...is this true?

I am fascinated that the myth of "price' still exists, with regard to mac. Of course a few skilled people can build their own cheap PCs and deal with the problems that result from it.

And yes there are very cheap PCs, and i guess thats where the mac mini is trying to compete.

However I am sure there was a piece of research by Gartner that showed the costs of a Mac, even in the high price hey day, lowered considerably over time as they cost less to maintain.

I am lucky that I manage an all mac system and network,(mostly OS X with two macs on OS9) it is so stable, I worry i have done myself out of a job.

Just to add, I have just converted my mac support web site over to xoops, having been on IPB for a long while, I got into XOOPs when I built an help desk at work using the xhelp module. It seems to work well (sometimes a little slow) but i i like the community.

I remember from a previous XOOPS site a module that allowed you to put 2/3/4 or more small blocks together in a large central block, does anyone know what module this is?

So I have looked at the other topics and at bbpixel.com and I am not really sure where I stand or which creek Iam up without which paddle.

I have an invision powerboard 1.1 forum and portal at macmend.com/forumac. I can't upgrade it to 1.2 or 1.3 as these downloads no longer exist for free.

I want to move lock stock and barrel over to XOOPS which i have already started to do, however, I want to know how to go about converting IPB membership and posts to NewBB, is there a script for this or not, or is there only some way to do this through IPB1.3 and above?

Have I lost all my previous stuff or could I convert it manually, if I can, can anyone guide me on how i would go about this and preserve my data. thanks

thanks i will try it, but it doesn't really have the full os x aqua feel, which is what I am looking for,

If you look at the macmend site now the feeling is very mac, but this is an old IPB 1.1 forum that I have hacked around alot.

I have used XOOPS on other sites and use it to run a helpdesk and FAQ at work and love its flexibility, however I am only just learning its construction and how themes can be modified or built even.

However I am working on how I can use themes and icons to convert my site to XOOPS and keep the mac aqua feel, and have more capabilities to support the people that come to my site looking for help.

Thanks everyone for your support

I have searched and searched for a theme that fits with my present site, which is based on IPB and has a superb mac theme.

I have looked at xaqua and aqua-um both are good but not what I need, I found an e-xoops theme called e-aqua which is good but have no idea who designed it and whther it could be converted for XOOPS 2.

does anyone know anything about this, the authors of e-aqua, converting this to XOOPS 2, or any better aqua themes around.

If not can someone point me at a theme making tutorial..thank you
