Hi there, I am still a bit of a newbie to XOOPS although I have got a site running pretty good with 2.0.6 at the moment which I am quite pleased with.

It has been reccomended to me that I should upgrade to the newest XOOPS version, I can easily do this through my webhost cpanel so that is not a problem but I do have some questions before I go ahead with the upgrade:

1.I currently use 7dana-clean theme is this compatible with XOOPS 2.0.7, the Theme html is modded to include a drop down menu will this also work?

2.Will all my content(news, articles, etc)still be there after the upgrade?

3.Will the modules I have installed still be there or do I have to re-install I have free content, xcgallery and a shoutboxmodule?

well I think thats pretty much it any help would be greatly appreciated to put my mind at rest

Thanks.

Hey there, I am newbie to XOOPS to but what I think you need to do is this:got admin>modules scroll down to your module and you can type in a new name from there, there is a white box whre you type in the name. The new name will appear on the Main Menu.

Hope this helps

Hi, I want to integrate a drop down menu into a XOOPS theme this is so I can have navigation links to pages i made through freecontent. I have tried several dhtml and javascript menus but none seem to work they either dont show up at all or just dont display properly, I am installing all the coding etc for the menus correctly.

I would jsut like any tips or anyhthing from anyone who has done this before to thier site. I am trying to install the menu onto 7dana themes (7dana round, clean, zaja-system)if that makes any difference.

Any tips or suggestions would be much appreciated or even a link to a menu script that is known to work with XOOPS themes.

Thanks in advance.

Hi, I have had XOOPS running on my site now for about 1 month and just a day ago the main XOOPS page started taking ages to load through my browser, my start module is News.

I didnt have it cached as sometimes i may have to post several stories in one day and the new stories werent showing as I had cached it for one day, my site loaded eventially however and have changed the news cache to 1 hour but news is still taking a long time to load but other areas and modules such as admin are loading fine.

At the top of this site it says clear cache periodically by updating general setting in admin - preferences but im not too sure exactly what this means if any one could give me any help or tips on the cache feature to make my site load quicker it would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Hi, I wanted to install the xcgallery module but the only one i can find on downloads is the multilingual hack one, it says underneath the download to install copy the xcgal folder to root/modules. I did this as i do when installing any other module but in admin - modules it says module file not found and it cant install.

Im not too sure about uploading the contents of the other folders in multilingual folder to XOOPS core as it would overwrite other folders/files already in there.

Does anyone know if I am doing anything wrong or where I can get just the xcgal module without multilingual as I dont really need a multilingual site anyway.

Thanks.

Wooo Hooo, I did it, LOL.

Thanks Chapi for telling me about the absolute thing, I drew a layer in dreamweaver then changed the tag to layer or ilayer and in the code it doesnt show position:absolute

I made a test page doing it this way and it wraps perfectly now,

Thankyou very much Chapi

Hi, I am having some major wrapping problems using freecontent.

I had made a HTML page using dreamweaver wich included a text laid out and in tables and some images, the text consisted of a bulleted list with indents etc.

I uploaded the page to the content directory and added it as a new connection, however when i viewed it the html page i had done overlapped the XOOPS page and it looked very very messy, the text was overlapping the menu and it wasnt good at all.

I made a basic html page using jsut plain text content and tried this and this wrapped fine, but i wanted to be able to make the pages look better with tables and stuff and graphics.

This also happened with cjay content the html page overlapped the XOOPS page, curently I am using cjaycontent with the wysiwyg editor to make pages but i would rather use dreamweaver as it has mnore options, etc.

I have the free content config.php file set to 'wrap', the content directory is default and has not been changed. I cant think what I am doing wrong palin pages wrap fine where as more complex ones dont, is freecontent not cappable of wrapping more complex html pages with lots of content?

Any help would be gratefully appreciated, thanks.

Thanks Mithrandir. so if I was to put a short description to the news item in the normal entry field then put the full storie in the extended text feild that would give me the read more link to bring up the full story?

I will give that a try and see how I get on

Thankyou very much.
