i have done the template changes but to be honest as I said I have no trouble on the user side

but on the admin and I do not think the suggested fixes will solve the matter my error is when trying to access the module from the admin side

"Parse error: syntax error, unexpected $end in /usr/www/users/sharon13/krabi.com/krabi/modules/yellow-pages/admin/index.php on line 1729"

the file in my opinion has no error ( it is the original file with 1725 lines ) but this was already mentioned somewhere in the thread, as I said if someone needs access I can give it.

there is clean 2.4.4 installation on it nothing else than the mxdirectory from evucan.

Mamba, do you mean just to make the changes you are indicating or all the changes which Zyspec suggested ??

Also on your version of evucan did you modify the name of the module ?
( just would like to know )

OK I MUST CORRECT MYSELF.

I have installed the module with a complete new installation on 2.4.4. and it worked in the beginning.

But I wanted to be smart and do a rename. That killed it somehow.

I uninstalled the module, uploaded it again and I never made it work again.

I now even installed it on a new domain with 2.4.4 during the installation process ( I uploaded the module file before installing
Xoops core and thus installed it with the other modules during the installation process )

Angain the failure with the admin/index.php on line 1729

IT IS ONLY STRANGE THAT ON MY FIRST INSTALL IT WORKED.
( even it was renamed )

I just downloaded the renamed file from the server and uploaded it again for another installation. )

I got no clue what is going on only happy that I have one good intstall ( no idea if this is related to the MX version , I doubt it )

I would really appreciate if tripmon could go after this issue.

If I get some reply from him, I will install 2.4.4 on another domain and I will give him ftp acess to the server.

So it would be a clean install with nothing else on it.
(of course also access code to the admin panel )

Therefore he could upload his latest module file rename it before and test it.

That would help everyone and he would be able to see what is going on.

I strongly believe there will be more guys with this issue for the 2.4.4 version.

but I believe it is a module related issue, perhaps even depending on which modules one installs first.

Anyway it is not server related as I have tested it on 3 servers but surprsingly it works on 2.0.16 .

I can only imagine the 2.4.4 is tuned a bit finer and recoginizes every little ditch.

As I said if tripmon responds I will prepare the testing environment for him.

When trying to install the adslight module on 2.0.16 I am receiving the following message

Installing adslight

Column length too big for column 'cat_keywords' (max = 255); use BLOB or TEXT instead

any idea what this could mean, and is it fixable, hope this is the only issue for the module with 2.0.16 or has anyone tested the module

In fact I was right, I uploaded the mxdirectory module on
2.0.16 English Version and there is no problem with the admin.php
file.

Everything so far seems to work, we are testing it thorougly and if there is any problem we will post it here.

But to the guy who had the problem I believe with a spanish version or several language files, I also tried to turn off the command in the admin.php file so it would only direct to the english package but that did not work.

So in my opinion there is some trouble with another component.

Probably a solution would be a reinstall of a pure English version of 2.0.16 and then try to install the language files later on or however it is done.

so far I have not done such a thing.
But I would go that way.

Good luck

disclaimer was turned off all the time.

thanks but it did not work.

you may try yourself the debug mode is on.

http://www.pattayayellow.com/yellow-pages/modules/wflinks/

since you are the author of the module you will most probably get the issue fixed much easier.

thanks anyway.

It seems that all other issues which I have read in the post about
1.06 and other earlier versions are fixed like the country issue etc.

my version is the latest stable 2.4.4

Modules used on xoops.org ( Version 2.4.4 )

Hi Guys,

I am not a complete newcomer, but could someone give me a list
of all modules used on the current xoops.org site which I believe is
2.4.4 version.

Please state the exact name ( version, release etc. ) like in the repository
or provide the exact working download links for the modules.

Also usually not necessary to say but also the additional ingredients needed to cook the soup like for example
smartobjects for smartsection.

My reasaon is very simple why should we or any newcomer mess around with all the different existing module versions in the beginning.

The result will only be that most guys are getting frustrated with using xoops from the very beginning.

I have heard about this idea to provide the next version with
some essential modules perhaps a good idea.

Everyone who then is happy to use xoops and not rather turn to another CMS will then be happy to test new modules plugin and what the hell is all around.

BUT GUYS GIVE THEM A WORKING ENVIRONMENT FIRST.

"You will not sell or let guys try furniture if you do not provide a warm and comfortable house for it."

I had posted once why I believe that xoops will not overcome f.e. WordPress or some other CMS systems.

But three major objectives must be achieved in order to create happy Xoops users.

1.) A version with some core modules on it
(OR AT LEAST A MAJOR SECTION ON THE HOMEPAGE WITH A GUIDE WHICH MODULES AND INGREDIENTS ARE USED OR CAN BE USED ON THE CURRENT VERSION TO DOWNLOAD )

2.) A list of Modules which are working on the current version.
Rather a small list but a working list.

3) Make sure that all download links for the respective modules are working and for the core, too. - currently the download for the core does NOT work.

4) Within the module downloads the correct or no link at all for the author of the modules - most sites are down.

5) A gallery for paid themes which should represent themes of professional developers like for ex. xoopsdesign.com ( unfortunately their site is down or closed for maintenance as well )

Well the house the furniture and the roof should be in order then you will get some visitors.

Really I would suggest instead of working on a new version and another new version and another new version is not really a good idea if your old house is still not comfortable to live in.

REAL LIFE EXAMPLE:

There is a brand called "Mercedes-Benz" which makes major model or type changes roughly all 10 years.

There is Toyota or other manufactureres who release a model almsot every three to five years by copying the already released MB model.

However we do not have to discuss which brand is the preferred
and which especially the Americans love to buy.

But in fact the buyers who are deciding for the MB do buy it for long term . The Toyota buyers will probably get rid of it after a brief time. Well another kind of buyer.

So perhaps since Xoops will definitely not be able to beat WordPress ( reason explained in earlier post )

WHY ARE YOU NOT GOING FOR TH EXLCUSIVE QUALITY CMS
(and take your time in doing it )

You might have have to change the name of the brand for the exclusive status, but that would not matter since there is anyway this trouble with xoops.com ( I have heard )

So long guys, I would really wish that Mamba, Ghia and the other major contributors are reading this and think about it.

PS. I have read over at least 2000 Posts and did really browse and explore xoops.org and I have used it and installed and tried to install 50 modules and tested them.

P.P>S: I have no big clue about coding or programming but I know how to drive a car and I know how to fix a car and many other things. More is not needed to know what works and does not .

PPPS. you should ready my first post on xoops related to WordPress and other CMS, too.

thanks for your consideration and hopefully the list of all modules and links for it I just would like to build a house where I can live in and close the doors and later on fool around in the house and hopefully not break it.

I have got the same problem in Thai version of 2.0.16

so I strongly believe it has to do with the language files, since the panel works in thai and english.

Will now test a bit more and install in 2.0.16 pure english
version.

If the problem persists I also got no clue but I had a problem with a mx directory version on 2.4.4 but when I downloaded another version ( another download ) it worked.

Hello Support,

I have found some article with upgrading from
July 2006: NOTE: For upgrades from 2.0.10 ... 2.0.13.2 to 2.0.14 please refer to the 2.0.14

is this also valid for my upgrade, not sure because I installed via Fantastico a 2.4.4. version and this version has already protector etc.etc. included.

Also if you might know who is most qualified from your developers for hire to do the upgrade and reinstallation from modules if necessary for the new version.
(perhaps wishcraft )

(unfortunately I have on the server of 2.0.16 no Fantastico so I will have to complete the upgrade on my own.

Thank you for your input
