sounds like been down the same path
would suggest have a look at the wordpress XOOPS module

many features, cloneable , multi cats
and so on
hacked it fairly easy to use smarty, so can use comments etc etc

its not ideal solution, however its the best one I have come across that fits my needs

in past when have tried to implement wyswyg in the news modules , always have had problems wwhen it comes to editing articles

has anyone tried using koivi editor with the 1.2 news module yet and if so ?
how did it work ?

xcgal w3c version and future dev

seen they have a w3c version of xcgall, anyone used this yet?

also any word on current dev of coppermine, did read someone has took it on a while back, but cant find any current news anywhere

working off memory here

think com_modid is the one concerned with

what you need to do is find out and then match
current and old id modules

look in xoops_modules table
match mid with module name

goto XOOPS comments look up that comment id and see what com_modid is pointing to , if different you should have to change all them to the new one

suggest you do one and then goto that "module item" and see if works


apoligies, its all off the top of my head and suggest "care" as may not be 100% :::)))

below may help,

after doing a fresh install of XOOPS and then modules
when trying to import a complete sites data
there are a few issues

one was can remember having to go thru tables and manually edit them so that the comments matched the relevant modules
as the modules id changed in the re-install

couldn't debaser module provide the basis of something similar?
already provides uploading, description, streaming, rating, comments and most of XOOPS benefits

one thing that would like to add which imo greatly improves the use of xoops
is the way can intergrate myalbum with the image manager, giving a lot easier system wide image management feature
combined with the easy clone module method, it does improve XOOPS content management

latest version of myalbum now offers choice of normal or columns in all its blocks - so can have similar style to xcgal
along with ability to add videos etc

not sure of what dev status is of xcgal,can't find a up todate staus report on the support site and along with fact that no release for a long time ......

well when compare it to the support and continual development given by my-album dev and stuff like the improved method of blocks admin feature, would have to say that my aadvice if asked woul dbe to try my album
