I have had lots of experience with XOOPS News modules. I have also had many frustrations in the past with the lack of features users of these types of modules require. Well I am now a happy camper, this new News 1.3.1.1 does it all. So far I have not found it lacking one thing, I will keep look though. Well done to all those who worked on this module. Perfect...nearly as I can tell.

I would be interested in finding someone who could help me with the upgrade of my current News 1.2 module to the new News 1.3.1.1 module.

My site has a very extensive data base. I am running News 1.2 and News 1.2 Clone on the same site. I would like to merge the data from both of these modules into the one News 1.3.1.1
I have customized both modules slightly and can do the customizing on News 1.3.1.1 as well.

I just have no idea how to do the data merge and don't want to risk losing the data I have accumulated over the past 6 months.

I would like to know if it is possible to do this and if it is I would be willing to pay someone to do it for me.

You can view the site and data at www.poetsworkshop.net
The NEWS 1.2 module is called "Main Poetry Library" and the NEWS 1.2 Clone module is called "Small Poem Library".

Thanks
James

I have installed the update version of Herves News 1.311 on my test server. This is an excellent modules, the new features are great. What I need to know is this:

On my main site I am using the Older Version of the News 1.2 module, I have tons of data run through this module so I am reluctant to install any upgrade for fear of this going bad. If I install News 1.311 will it erases the data that is used by News 1.2?

If so, how do suggest I make the change over without data loss?

Part 2

I am also using News 1.2 Clone on the same site. Is there a Clone version available for 1.311?

Thanks
James

I am using the standard News module, anytime a member enters a comment and hits the submit key the system opens up another window. This can be irritating, how do I stop it from doing this?

Thanks for taking a look at my site. I was thinking of switching to Smart FAQ. I am just a little reluctant to change anything as everything is working so well. You know the old expression, "if it's not broken don't fix it". I don't really use the FAQ anyways, the questions and answers are just a small bit at the bottom of the page. My FAQ really is located in the forum, this seems to be where everyone goes anyways.
Thanks again. I will check your site out when I have a bit more time.

I started using XOOPS approximately 3 months ago. I have added many modules since then and have become fair proficient at customizing the program to fit our needs. If you would like to take a look at the site here is the address.

I am really happy that I decided to go with XOOPS it works perfectly for this purpose.

I am currently running the News and New2 clone modules at my site. I installed WF-Sections but would prefer to use another News module instead. Is there a News3 Clone around that I could install? If not is there any easy way to make one?

Lately I have been having problems with my Private Message Inbox hanging up. It happens once in awhile where I can't get into it for minutes, hours or days at a time. I check the SQL and everything is good. Why would this be happening?
