icontent modified pages question

i use the module icontent as my content module. This allows users to modify their webpages. However, I am a b it worried about how to back up the pages. When they modify - the changes do not show on the page stored on the server - just the page that icontent calls up (from somewhere?).
So where do the modifications get saved and how can I replace the server copies of the pages with the modified ones???

I would like to have the most recent news articles (that have been posted in the news module) appear at the bottom of my homepage.

Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks

Re: login box problems

well I have been unto user.php and deleted some code - this means I no longer get the regiser now options if a user simply clicks on 'login' - without actually having entered a username and password.

However a user in the know could still type in register.php after the domain name and create himself a username and password.

Does anyone know how to disable this?
I found a faq - but I only have one of the files it mentions in my sytem and in that file I do not actually have the code I am supposed to delete??

The faq was as follows:

Delete these two lines in ../modules/system/blocks/system_blocks.php

$block['content'] .= _MB_SYSTEM_DHAAY."
";
$block['content'] .= " "._MB_SYSTEM_RNOW."";
-------------------------------
Or Change:
The variable "_MB_SYSTEM_DHAAY" in
../modules/system/language/%lang%/blocks.php to say... "Please email me to register"
Change:
$block['content'] .= " "._MB_SYSTEM_RNOW."";
To
"._MB_SYSTEM_RNOW."
And change the variable "_MB_SYSTEM_RNOW" in ../modules/system/language/%lang%/blocks.php to say... "emailaddy@foobar.com" etc.

Remember to backup the files you are changing and rename register.php to register.old

login box problems

Hi

I want full control over who is registered to view certain parts of my site. Therefore I do not want anonymous users to be able to register online. I took the register now option away from the login box. However, if you just click on 'login' without entering any username or password you get taken to a page which has the register now option still there. I think this is the page: system_userform.html that is in the system module. I have tried going into templates and deleting the contents and also ftping an altered file over. But nothing seems to get rid of the default template. Does anyone know how to get rid of it?

Re: new domain name - what will happen?

thanks

will changing the url in the mainfile.php cause all th instances of the old domain to be replaced by the new one. You see links between my content pages in icontent were automatically changed by icontnet to have the old domain name.

new domain name - what will happen?

I have created a site and it is now finished. Phew

But it will now be moved so that the address of it is different as it has been created behind a firewall as an extension onto a different domain (something to do with ports). Buut now it will be put under a new domain name. Will this affect anything I've done?

icontent - online modifications

Hi

In the pages administration section of icontent you can modify a page or update a page.
If I ftp a new version of a page into the inPages directory and then click on update page - then the new ftp'd version of the page is used by my website.

My users will be managig their content by using the modify page option - where they can use the wysiwyg editor. However - if the update page option is clicked on after modifications are made - the online changes (made within the modify page option) are lost.

Is there any way of making a modified page replace any older version - as clicking on update page accidentally would cause all the modifications made by clients to be lost.

Thank you

yellowchimp
