Those services are pretty expensive when you add up.

Might be better off hosting your site with a reliable host company and let them monitor your site. Unless you have the need of hosting your own.

Yes they cost but you must NEVER rely on your own host monitoring. Is like having judge and judged in the same bed

As your web server is in your lan, you can monitor it with this software: eye on site

It is free

hope this helps

By the way, I like hosting at home for my personal site, but for >10 visits a day, I would agree with t1 and would use a good host.

Thank you Karuna, but the questioon is a little diferent.

I would like the titles of the news in a block within the main page. Let me explain. If you use the news module as your homepage, then the full article is displayed at this page. This makes very long pages. I would like to display the titles (headers) of the news. i.e. in stead of displaying

"BIG news 1"
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Aliquam elementum ligula vel velit. Proin porta, est ut sollicitudin congue...

--------------------------------------------------
"BIG news 2"
Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetuer adipiscing elit. Aliquam elementum ligula vel velit. Proin porta, est ut sollicitudin congue...

I'd like to show:

"BIG news 1" Click here
"BIG news 2" Click here

This way the main page would be smaller

I know this is simple, but cannot find how.

I'd like to display just the titles of the news / articles at the homepage, in stead of the substracts regularly shown.

Could someone enligth me please?

have a nice day

I have recently moved my site to XOOPs. My bandwith usage has increased TEN TIMES. I went from about 30mb a day to 300mb a day.

It is a lot. How can these amounts of trafic be reduced?

Hi.
Could anyone share the average bandwidt your visitors are using per visit at your sites? I'm getting almost 2 MB and my site is very simple with just a couple of images.

And second. Any tips to reduce the amount of data transfered?

Thank you very much for your help and have a nice day!

If you need your computer to be seen from a computer at your LAN, then put the name of your computer (the network name). If you are using a domain or a solution like no-ip, then you have to put as well the domain.

Have a nice day

It has been solved in other post:

"Just thought I would post my findings. There is a way this will work. You just need to edit your hosts.txt file. This file is located at %SYSTEM_ROOT%\system32\drivers\etc\hosts.txt where %SYSTEM_ROOT% is default to "C:\Windows"

you can find the original thread here

hope this works ok!

by the way, hosts.txt migth not have the extension so it would be hosts.

Hi
Lunar pages is good, but they host a LOT of domains on each server. You are not the only one kicked out (try webhostingtalk.com to learn more about it).

I sugest you to buy a managed dedicated server at www.1and1.com, they are only 49/59 usd a month with 500 gb transfer. They are very reliable.

Good luck.
