Well, I would click BACK on my browser and re-enter the admin panel and get rid of that theme.

You could also check the source of your blank page, to see what is going on.

Do you have a specific theme you want to use? If so, post a link to it and I can check it out myself.

It is actually easy to do.

Once you have your flash movie (.swf file) ready, it is simply a matter of inserting the code into your page.

for example, if you add an swf file called example.swf, the code would be something like this:

-----------------------
<object classid="clsid27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000" codebase="http://download.macromedia.com/pub/shockwave/cabs/flash/swflash.cab#version=6,0,29,0" width="www" height="hhh">
<param name="movie" value="path to swf">
<param name="quality" value="high">
<embed src="path to swf" quality="high" pluginspage="http://www.macromedia.com/go/getflashplayer" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" width="www" height="hhh"></embed></object>

substitute www for width in pixels, hhh for height in pixels.
-----------------------
Keep in mind that by adding flash content, you are effectively throwing out the possibility (right now anyway) of having a valid XHTML page...

1. Unpack your theme and then upload the theme's folder (i.e. Rainbow) to the themes directory. Then, if you head to your admin panel -> prefs you should see the theme list in there. Make sure that if you want it as the default theme, you set it in both the default theme box and make it the only selectable theme for users (another box below).

2. To install modules, unpack them and upload them into the modules directory. You will already see some in there, so make sure you upload the folder (i.e. newbb or calendar). Then, go to admin panel and click on modules. Then, scroll to bottom and install the mods.

3. This has recently been asked. Go to admin panel -> blocks, add custom HTML block, and choose where you want it situated (like center center).

Hope that helps.

Alright, so here is the site:

My Site

Now, to view the site you have to log in with:

username: testy
password: testy
-----------------------------------------------------
Now, I have run into a dilemma. Basically, I am using the wrong approach as far as positioning my left module blocks.

Using DIVS the way I am can cause some problems. For example, I am trying to work with the main menu (ignoring user menu for now) and I have run into a problem with my replicated data. Since I am using relative positioning, there is an annoying space after my first element.

How to I remove this space?

Thanks

Alright, first off your email address is the right one, right?

Secondly, is your server allowed to send emails out over the internet? (New one, but I have recently dealt with some hosts that don't enable mailing beyond their networks unless asked).

Thirdly, have you tried changing your email in the contact us module to check to see if it is a problem with your email? (unlikely, but worth a shot anyway)

Thirdly, in your admin panel under prefs --> mail setup how are you sending out mail? With php mail() or sendmail or smtp?

If sendmail or smtp, make sure the settings are configured below.

Lastly, if php mail(); we could always try getting you to use a php page that will test to see if your php mail() is working properly...

Well, here would be one suggestion I would humbly offer.

If you want to do it via db/cms administration, I would go into your admin panel, go to blocks administration and add a new CUSTOM block. You can tell XOOPS on which places to show this block, and to what type of users.

Then, you can put whatever you want in this block.

Just a thought...

Thanks Stewdio, I have downloaded the program and am using it now - definately helped me at the start learning some more CSS attributes relating to layers.

So, I have created my header that will sit atop my theme. Still not completely finished, but you will get the basic idea if you follow the link at the bottom of the page.

I have noticed that in IE the first DIV, the silver top gradient div doesn't display properly, but I am not going to worry about that now, just want to be aware of it. Thanks

BTW, using layers is SOOO much better than tables. I am converted! I won't be using tables anymore unless I absolutely have to.

@studioC: Thanks for the encouragement. I still have your xf_cssbasic theme that helped serve as the inspiration for me to stop working with tables and step it up to using a more refined approach. I will take this opportunity to thank YOU again... :)

@tjnemez: Thanks for the suggestion. I always check for glitches in my themes in IE6, Firefox, Netscape7, and Opera. That being said, I don't get too broken up initially if things aren't working in IE...such a terrible browser. ;)

Thanks again!
