Hi Max

Just signed up and had a good look around AuthorZone. Sure this is a a whole bag more than article or category management. I have another reason for sign-up as I,m a writer myself. I would personally like to see this ported or moduled, as I have an immediate application requirement for it. What I particularly like about AuthorZone is how it has features that encourage a sense of community as well as the capacity for organisation .

Good luck

I also looked at GLOAMING.US Really like that theme best of all. Just one problem... the RHS of the page breaks up on my 1600.1250 screen. Calendar mis-aligns, and gray stripes pop out of place.

I read fabulous ideas regarding modules, and all these will be a great enhancememnt to XOOPS but at the heart of an excellent CMS has to be comprehensive content management: For my setup, forums, comments, news, etc. etc all revolves around THE ARTICLE CONTENT of the site.

I would like to see; the ability to better organise articles into directory structures, coulpled with a flexible menu system.

The ability to search and integrate external html documents as seemlessly as those directly inputed through Xoops

Multiple authoring coupled with approval/vetting through selected groups priveliges.

Author, Date & time-stamping of articles with individual track-backing.

One of the most useful features I have found on a forum is 'e-mail digest' that delivers user selectable content to their inbox on a regular basis.

Whatever you guys do, I suspect the next few weeks? nonths? will be very exciting and rewarding for XOOPS uses!

Just an enquiry... While looking around these forums and following links here and there I keep finding different modules and themes available for downloads. Is there a central 'library' where anyone can leave links and short descriptions of modules and themes they have created or found?

If not... sounds useful eh?

Richard

I am in the same positin as you. Still wandering if XOOPS is up to this task. I believe technically it is, but the current content wrappers ar all fairly basic as far as I can see. If you check the wiki out you will see that any html page can be included in your page layout just by adding some php code around the html. However it is simply an include page and sits outside the navigation system. If you want your pages to be integrated within the XOOPS system and navigation ,as far as I can see they all need to be imported individually and relinked within the XOOPS naigation. This is where the content wrappers come in. Your content is stored in a dedicated directory but linked through the system. This allows the content to be part of the other features of Xoops, such as page management, adding comments, etc. Whatever way you go, its going to be a lengthy task. Whether you can maintain you existing directory structure or not, I,m unsure. I have also heard that there may be a new 'sections' module as part of 2.1 when it is released. I am looking forward to comments from the Devs re our posts. as I feel content management is a crucial factor in the XOOPS development. I would also recommend looking at the new Tiny Content module just relesed by Chapi. The redme file gives a link to a first class mini guide by Horacio Salazar explaining how to use it for content management. This is documantation at its best which I will post more about later

setting visibility of custom block in sections module

I really tried to sort this out before asking a silly question here, but... I am trying to get a custom block in the RHS panel to be visible ONLY when the "sections" page is viewed. (modules/sections) So Ive positioned the block in RHS set its weight and then "edit block" link. Here I set visible "yes" visible in "sections" and submit. Under admin>block admisistration>sections it shows as "visible".So far so good... However when viewed It now is not visible on any page INCLUDING "sections" This seems to be regardless of group priveliges. As an experiment I followed this routine with other blocks and my custom block does show up in the selected pages only as expected. SO WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT SECTIONS ???

Thank-you

Ok, Ive done some looking around and found a XOOPS site working on Team module here LINK

There are several themes options avilable on this site including Nautis. It is now clear that Nautis theme has (to my eyes) a rather untidy format for the central column compared to the minimalist left and right panels. So I have NOT got a fault after all, but I need to experiment with the css to change this central column formatting to something more like Phpaox. This looks more "tidy" and readable to me. Sorry to backtrack on my own question, just could'nt believe this centre column format was really part of this excellent theme.
