Mikhail, does this mean we will use the XSAS based demo I made for this conference?

As I said, my comments are not especially for this conference and I don't think you have time/necessasity to include other language sites, for say, Jap/Chn for this time.
However, a few Chinese sites:
MAC community:http://www.sinomac.com (slow)
a large community belong to a news agent:http://bbs.huash.com/
a deeply customized game community based on XOOPS 1.*:http://www.gameage.net/

phppp, im talking about "demo websites" for download (with sql include)

Herko, thanks a lot.

About the LiveCD, I will try to put this idea in practical, after finish the executable, today. - I already made some experiences with this, remastering the "Damn Small Linux" (a knoppix based distro) with XOOPS + apache + MySQL installed (just for fun, clearly better ways exists).

some comments
3 sample sites: there are also many good examples of XOOPS application in non-English language, as large technical/entertainment communities, artist personal sites and even government sites

note: the comments are not particularly for this conference but rather for future promotion.

I found an example in Japanese (with a very large database), but still I did not find one in Chinese. Could send me all links for download, please? thanks in advance,

and sorry for my poor english

Hi! the main demo was downloaded and integrated with others websites already created (like xsas demo, melponeme demo, and others generic websites). You can work with more than one site using the same copy of the program, and install a new website if you want...

Can you burn part of the CDs today and another one tomorrow? I ask because tomorrow I will be set free to work in FULL TIME, and also have access to the broadband (my connection is poor, just 256 for downloads and 64 for uploads).

Btw, I will send you a copy of the program still today, but… would be perfect to finish all work tomorrow (really).

my gnu/gpl credits are part of the payment for the colaborative work. so this question is VERY IMPORTANT FOR ME.

I also believe I've seen a request for marketing xoops... do you think this shows a community that stands together and works together?

yes, I understand. I have serious problems with a commerial community called XOOPS Brasil, owned by a WebHosting CompaNny (Giba is a proprietary),.... Im tired, and I hate to talk and think about it (and Herko too, hehe), but I think necessary sometimes...

Maybe a standard language constant could be provided in each language pack: _MI_XOOPS_AUTHOR_TRANSLATION

It could be displayed conditionally, in case it's not present:

if (defined('_MI_XOOPS_AUTHOR_TRANSLATION')) {

_MI_XOOPS_AUTHOR_TRANSLATION;
}

ELSE....

$modversion['author_translation'] = "Not yet";

or

$modversion['author_translation'] = "Local Support";

or any other 'placebo' solution, I don't know... just a brainstorm... []'s! mikhail

A simple question for translators and developers: why not include something like "$modversion['author_translation'] = "Mr. Mambo Jambo";" in all "modinfo.php" files???

Why not?

GET XOOPS V2.0.1.0 ALPHA [ENGLISH]:
http://colaborar.softwarelivre.gov.br/download.php/95/get-xoops-v2.0.1.0-alpha-english.zip

Is just a MamboJambo fork, with replacements:

***************************************************************************
Get XOOPS v1.4 Alpha
***************************************************************************
file: getxoops.php
functionality: Provides wrapper for Server to Server and for PclZip module.
Enables transfer of XOOPS installation file in a zip from
Manbo-in-a-box.com to a folder on a shared webserver. (Particularty useful
if you don't have root or shell access and use a slow dial up
connection)

Requires FTP access to install folder. For XOOPS requirements
see XOOPS OS.

***************************************************************************

Instructions:

1/ Unzip all the getxoops.zip files to a folder on you computer.
2/ Upload all the Getxoops files via FTP to your server into the folder in which you want to install xoops.
3/ You may need to set the folder permissions enable writing - CHMOD to 777 (depends on your server and the public root folder is usually set this way already)
4/ Go to you install folder with your browser and load getxoops.php

For examplehttp://www.yournewsite.com/xoops/getxoops.php
or in the public roothttp://www.yournewsite.com/getxoops.php

Work through the two stages outlined on the getxoops.php page which will:

1/ Transfer the zip file containing the XOOPS installation files from Xoops-in-a-box
to your server directory.
2/ Decompress the zipped files into the folder/directory you are in.

It is not perfect. On my server it times out while the files are transferring
and I have to reload the page after a few minutes. (okay it's a hack and I'm
not proud of it but it works and that's all I need, if you need more hack it
yourself!

Seriously, any help, suggestions or comments appreciated!

:: Notes:

:: This is a beta release and any faults and damage caused by its use
is at your own risk. I have hacked this together for my own use and if
it is a help to other I will clean it up.
:: The copy of pclzip.lib.php is not the same as the XOOPS version and they are not interchangeable
:: Delete all these files from your install directory after your install is complete they are:

getxoops.php
downloader.php
script.inc.php
pclzip.lib.php
pass.php
xoops.zip
readme.txt
gnu-lgpl.txt

:: Todo:
:: Figure out the progress indicator/timeout problem
:: make a version that works with tar.gz files which would be fasted because they are smaller.
:: move install directory to installation

GetXoopsNow! File get and install
