It seems the size of the block is proportional to the size (char count) of the script. When I just use bb code, with text links, the spacing between the top of the block and the text is ok...I guess I'll have to pick the lesser of two evils...

I've tried using a custom block for my navagation bar, but there is just to much whitespace between the block title and the nav bar menu. It just does not give the desired look Im trying for.

check out the xf-sections hack. It will allow the functionality to use realitive links within your site.

is there a better place to add javascript into your XOOPS site. I needed a navagation bar, so I just added the scripts that I wanted. The problem is, that the site runs kinda slow whenever a new page is pulled up. I put the scripts in the theme.html.

Is there a better place to put the script, maybe a place so that it is cached or something.

Ummm....im new...but....
you should change your folder name prior to selecting the theme. The theme files are stored in a cache. So, if you change the folder name of the theme, that theme no longer technicaly exsists in XOOPS world, but the cache still does exsist. When the theme file is called, it uses the data found in the cache, and it will use the style sheet found in /themes/yourthemename. Since you changed your theme name folder, the style sheet no longer exsists in the same path, and can not be properly called.
i think.

Thanks for the tips. Im still putting it all together, and have just released it to a few of our customers.

Im new at this whole website design thing and am doing my best to make it look professional.

It has much work that needs to be done still, but here it is:

DTG Service Portal
user: defaultuse
pass: default

I would post it in teh review forum, but I don't want to many people checking it out just yet.

just fyi:
I used a 7dana template, the link to his/her website is missing right now, but will give the props to them when it goes live.

And I know the header logo is not big enough...its just a temp one.

Thanks for whoever checks it out. Like I said, this is my first attempt at creating a website....so any helpful criticism would be very appreciated.

Ryan

Here is another tool that I just love! It will create a graphical menu with links to whereever you want. You can just copy the code that it generates into a custom block and place it where you want to.

Nav Bar Generator

Is there a site anywhere that will test my XOOPS site with other browsers? I've done a google search, and found a few that display my site all messed up, but they do not show which browsers are being used to check it against.

Im not interested in loading up several different browsers on my machine, I've got enough junk on here already.

What do ya'll use?
