And have you checked that all the files exist? I'd particularly do a check of the XOOPS files and the SmartSection files. I'm not sure what to say, personally, yet, based on those error messages. I'm sorta still foraging in the dark.

Hmmmm; it sounds like maybe a file permissions issue. Make sure the files exist:

/modules/smartsection/class/item.php

and make sure they have the same file permissions as the other files. Usually files should be 644 and directories 755 on 'nix, but it's different depending upon the server. If on Windows, I likely can't help you there.

If the error files exist, then it's most likely that the server can't read or execute the file due to permissions. Since you've tried it on another server and I've tried it on the same version you have, there is some setting issue and I'm guess file/access permissions. Check both the owner of the files as well as the permissions.

Are you on Windows or Linux?

I notice an rl_smartsection reference, too. I'm assuming that is for Right-to-Left implementations. Can you change to a L-to-R version and do you get the same error? What modules are you running besides these? Are you using ThAdmin and if so which admin theme? (I've run into problems with ThAdmin and a few modules that aren't fully standards compliant, but I don't remember SmartSection falling into this category)

Thanks for merging the threads back, ghia.

I must admit that I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Are you trying to move another existing XOOPS database onto this one, or are you trying to have one database for two different web applications, or something else entirely?

Some ISPs only give you a single database to work with, thus you need XOOPS data and OtherAPP data in the same database.

If it's a XOOPS database, as long as it matches, then it's pretty easy. I made a checklist for moving a site from one domain to another. May it's of assistance to this situation. If not, then please clearly define what you are trying to do, otherwise my replies are likely off base.

Turn on debugging and see if you get additional messages when trying to update. Sometimes those errors will lead you to where the problem is. If you aren't sure, post them here (without personal path info)

If I understand correctly, you have an existing XOOPS 2.3.3 site with SmartSection 2.13 on it and you want to update to SmartSection 2.14 (or now 2.15).

Are you on a windows box or linux environment? Have you ensured that the file permissions for the new module files is the same as the set of files for 2.13. I have run into permissions issues in instances like this.

I'll have to look into the updated 2.15, although I know that SmartFactory is now heavily involved in the ImpressCMS effort and that XOOPS is now secondary thought to their development processes.

Odd that SmartSection 2.15 isn't listed at either SF or iCMS; apparently an updated version by Wishcraft and not official SF release (couldn't find anything about it in their forums).

It's function getCountryList() in ./class/xoopslists.php

I haven't checked to see how accurate it is of recent aspects, but there are ISO country lists out there (maybe wikipedia) to check against as needed.

I'd have to go back and check the code, but I think I hacked a function into this called getStateList and then edited the code in Oledrion to load the state instead of the country.

If you PM me and get me your email address, I'd be happy to send you the version of the module I setup with the various changes which you can then diff against the released version to see all the changes.

Yes, you may edit them like any other web page file. However, themes are more than just HTML and CSS and include Smarty as well. You'll want to start with the FAQs on Themes.

Assuming you have a database matched up to a fileset of a particular XOOPS installation and set of modules, then yes, you should be able to switch it back and forth using the config file, assuming the domain name and such match as well overall.

Is that the question you were asking?

As bjuti said, backup everything first (files and the dB), setup in a dev/test environment, and then apply your upgrade and test it out. Learn from that; document; and then apply it to the production site.

Depending on the version you are going from/to, there are a number of things to think about. You didn't mention which version you were starting with. Some modules may not work with later versions. When I do an update, I ensure that I know what hacks were made to modules, the core, etc.

I posted some notes on updating from 2.0.x to 2.3.x awhile back. They are still generally pertinent overall to any version upgrade/update.

Hope that helps.

The countries list pulls from the main XOOPS definition of countries. I used Oledrion in a site, but I had to make a number of changes to accommodate the US where we have states as well as a few other issues. Also, Oledrion doesn't have a gateway for payment, you effectively have to bill them afterwards. Unfortunately I seem to lost most of my notes on this module.

If I remember right, I ended up making changes to the code in the pertinent locations and coding the states in to it.

My preference remains osCommerce but there certainly is some overhead to getting that one running. Haven't tried the others in awhile.

Good luck.
