I'm thinking of creating a new blogging site to document my Victor Meldrew lifestyle!

Naturally I want to use XOOPS for it. I also notice there's a few blogging modules like Wordpress available so it should be a piece of cake.

I just want to see how others have used XOOPS for their bloggs. If you own a blogging site can you put the URL in this thread so I can check it out and steal your ideas, cough cough, I mean, see what modules you've used and how they look, how you've set them up

Cheers

Ted

Have you check the details in your mainfile.php - database name, password etc?

Also, check out this FAQ that may be related to your problem (depdning on the versions you're using) :

Quest : thanks for you reply, but no I haven't made any changes.

Kaotik : thanks for your reply, but I'm on a commercial hosting server and there are no htaccess files that I can see. Basically I have two folders on my host - /web and /logs. In /web is all my XOOPS setup - no htaccess files that I can see.

Brash at it-hq.org found this FAQ for me but it doesn't shed much light on the subject unfortunately.

Odly I've started to nitce I get this error when using the search block. It does the search and says "Fetching the results of your search" then I get the 500 error (on Lost-Doggies.com).

I've changed the permissions to 755 on all the files and folders including search.php, but problem remains. Interestingly, it only applies to anonymous users. When I log in, it works. Any ideas anyone?

Thanks, but his issue is different to mine.

I have no problems logging in to either site on 'everyday' computers. It all works fine. It's just when I log on via my work network, and apparently some other govt. staff have reported the same problem.

But, as I say, I can log into Xoops.org. without any trouble from work. So Xoops.org must have something configured differently to my site. Perhaps it's the way my commercial host have their servers configured?

I'm not too bothered about fixing it as such if it's beyond my control, but I'd like to have an explanation for people when I meet them at conferences when they ask "Why can't I log into your site?".

My IT access at work is regulated via a highly secure network of 130,000+ government workstations. Strict IE settings are applied, proxies, and all sorts.

I can access both my web sites from work no problem. But after logging in both sites always log me out almost immediately after loggin me in (about 10 seconds). Odly though, I can access Xoops.org and stay logged in for the time period specified by the site admins. I am typing this from work in fact.

I use XOOPS 2.0.13.2, I have Protector Module, and HTTP_REFERRER is turned off (hard code disabled). Firewalls are not applied per workstation either. All sites are 'approved' sites for access.

Can anyone help me understand why I can stay logged in on Xoops.org (and other like it-hq.org) but not on my own sites? What am I missing?

Cheers

It depends what theme you're using - they vary. But generally, look in the style.css file and find references to 'width' or "table width="700px"...". If your theme is a fixed with the value will be given as pixels (px). Just change the value to say 90%.

I'm at work at the moment so can't look up my own theme details for you. But it's something like the above.

Thanks guys...that has worked!! All that time, and it was just because I'd missed the 'a' out before the {. How annoying!

Thanks so much - I can rest now...(I can't stand noticeable inperfections)
