Hi

I suddenly get very confused "500 internal server error" for all my XOOPS related php files in browser.

the reason why i call it "confused" is :

1) my site had been working very well for 2 years , until today, I did not change any configrations of the server at all !

2) it seems the problem has only something to do with php files , not other jpg files or html files. I doubt that php of my site has some problems. but I have no idea where ? and how to fix it .

3) the problems only occurs in browser, it gives me even the same error when i try to excute simple testfile "phpinfo.php" from browser .

but , all php files can be excuted from command shell correctly . which means when I type " php index.php" or "php phpinfo.php" from command line, I could see the right html files flowing through the screen.

any helps or suggestions will be highly appreciatged.

My server :
suse linux 8.1 with php4
apache 1.3 , XOOPS 2.0.6

Try this FAQ entry.

(There is no need to post the same problem on several posts... it does confuse things)

Odly I've started to nitce I get this error when using the search block. It does the search and says "Fetching the results of your search" then I get the 500 error (on Lost-Doggies.com).

I've changed the permissions to 755 on all the files and folders including search.php, but problem remains. Interestingly, it only applies to anonymous users. When I log in, it works. Any ideas anyone?

rename file:

see if that works

Quest : thanks for you reply, but no I haven't made any changes.

Kaotik : thanks for your reply, but I'm on a commercial hosting server and there are no htaccess files that I can see. Basically I have two folders on my host - /web and /logs. In /web is all my XOOPS setup - no htaccess files that I can see.

Brash at it-hq.org found this FAQ for me but it doesn't shed much light on the subject unfortunately.
