Go to your BLocks administration and enable the recent news block and set it for your front page.

Have you added any new modules lately? Have you added new blocks to your pages? If yes, then slowly deconstruct what you built to find the error.

In some cases, but not all, when new module blocks are added to your site, they may cause blank pages; especially custom blocks that are coded incorrectly.

This is mearly a snippit of the many things that can cause blank pages. A thourough search of the forums and documentation will give you more insight on what to look for in order to correct the problem.

Feel free to continue posting your workarounds and attempts so that we can all try to get you through the white pages issue.

clear the /template_c directory and then go to module admin and rebuld the system files. See if that helps. I don't think it will, but it's worth a shot at this point.

I would also side with Jdseymore on this one. Something doesn't look right. Maybe just reupload the admin.php file by itself?

Sorry, it's not so easy to port users over from one system to another, even though they are essentially the same. It's in the user sql tables and group permission tables for XOOPS where things get tricky when you try to fool other scripts to simultaniuosly [sp?] log them into the XOOPS environment.

You can still keep your other scripts running, but you will have to inform your users very clearly that they are very different systems and you have not been able to port the users over for whatever reason you wish to disclose.

I'm glad you found an alternative to start using and I'm sure you will find more as your site grows.

Good luck with the site!

As the subject implies. I just discovered this while looking for alternative solutions to a problem found in this thread.

I turned off php debug and the groups administration page worked like a charm. No php errors where displayed on any of my pages.

Cheers!

Howdy people. Just a heads up on an obsservation I just had on the banner system for 2.2.3 final

Banners work as they should when I'm logged in.

When I am logged off the site (the bit that my visitors are going to see while I update the layout/content), the banners get redirected back to the {xoops_url} for some reason.

I suspected a permissions issue and looked into the groups and what have you and didn't see anything that was of importance.

I am gathering at this point that is somwhere in the banner code itself, which I am sure someone will be able to figure out.

My site is currently closed, but I still have the banners on so that my traffic will have somwhere to go and something to look at when they hit the site (approx 1k unique visitors a month) It's not much but for a tiny little place like mine, thats a rather large and shocking number for me, so closing the banners off and loosing that trafic to my partner site would be a big loss.

At any rate, if I have to turn off the banners and just use my own code in the site_closed template, I will. In the meantime, I thought I would give a heads up and provide a link for you folks to check this odd behaviour out in action. http://www.stewdio.net

I'm sure almost anyone will be able to reproduce this.

Anyway, gotta run, catch you all later.

Modules for XOOPS use the XOOPS authentication so that all users will have access to the modules you choose as defined by your permission settings. In short, if you are using a module desiged for use for XOOPS, then you will not need to worry about separe user names and passwords as all of these are integrated in the system. I just hope I am understanding the question clearly.

If you are using a separate script that is not associated with XOOPS, you would have to modify that external scripts SQL queries to look in your XOOPS environment tables for user amd group perms, which may or may not be worth the trouble.

Check to make sure that you have the proper group permissions set up in your admin area.

That will largly depend on the modules you are using.

From this point forward, I would look very carefuly at the releases you download to be sure of compatability issues. Make sure you see 2.2+ in the release notes before considering a module/

Not all modules will work , however, they are all worth a try. I myself had no issues updating, but I'm not a huge fan of too many modules and general site clutter. If you are a minimalist like me, you will have very little problems, however that is no guarantee that all your modules will work out of the box, so to speak.

One thing you can do is to update each of your module templates, but only if you are haveing problems. Go on the premise, if it isn't broken, don't fix it.

You should be ok, but do be carefull about what blocks you place on your site because some changes may produce a blank screen because of one misconfigured block.

Rebuild your site layout one block/module at a time and you will be just fine.
