For having a local 'clone' of your web site you should have the entire content of html folder, the content of your database and also a modified mainfile.php with your local info. Be careful to *not* upload the local mainfile.php...

Yes it's possible...
Their is a tutorial in french on the site www.xoops-themes.org
I'm working to translate it in english but it's difficult due to special word used in this doc

you can also do this only in the css sheet...
body {
    background : url(fond.jpg) no-repeat fixed center center;
    color: #000066;
    font-weight: normal;
    font-size: 12px;
    font-family: "Trebuchet MS",Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;
    margin: 0px;
    padding: 0px;
}

perhaps you can just remove the <banner> tag in the theme and replace by an image and a simple web link

do you have uninstall the news module ? If yes... you must change also in : admin>preferencies> the module for the start page

I know that some libraries are avaible on the web to produce pdf "on the air" but it's not realy easy in XOOPS.
