You should have a list of QA's which are ediablr from XOOPS modules admin - check you blocks permissions - are they visibale? What XOOPS version have you got? What errors?

Xoops 2.0.14

Block permissions are all appropriate.

The list of QA's shows nothing. It shows the number of questions, but that's it.

FWIW, I'm having a similar problem with WF-FAQ.

smartFAQ wo't take new Q&A's

Just installed SmartFAQ on a website, and it will not let me create new Q&A's. I enter the info, hit CREATE, and it says it worked, but then none are listed and when I try to enter the module from within the site I get a message that there are no Q&A's found.

Can anyone help me on this?

Re: Sudden permissions problem with CBB 3.04

New info:

I can post fine when logged in as an admin, but cannot post at all as a regular user.

Insights? Anyone? Please?

Sudden permissions problem with CBB 3.04

I have been running CBB 3.04 on a XOOPS 2.0.13.2 system for months no with no problems. Several users posted yesterday and the day before. I haven't touched a thing on the server in weeks. Then, today, everyone started to get the following error when attempting to post messages:

***
You don't have permission to access
/modules/newbb/post.php on this server
***

I checked the permissions on the server and they are all set correctly. I've tried adjusting them, even to the point where I did a chmod 777 on the directory and the file itself, but no luck.

Has anyone seen this? Can anyone offer insight? Or better, a fix?

(My initial thought is to go ahead and do the upgrade to 2.0.15 and see if that helps, but I somehow doubt that it will.)

But what exactly did they update (php or mysql) and to which version?

Maybe with these informations someone might have an idea whats the exact source of the issue.

They updated sometime yesterday from PHP 4.3 (I think) to PHP 5.0.4.

Did your host update to php5 or messed with the MySQL version?

I saw number two once on a site which upgraded to php5. After downgrading it went back to normal. Since it was not exclusively my site no further investigation took place though.

Yup. They upgraded it yesterday, exactly when the problems began. They're NOT going to downgrade it for little old me. Any workaround for this?

Forbidden error/data corruptions

I am experiencing a number of bizarre behaviors with my site suddenly, and I'm wondering if anyone can help me out. Here are the symptoms I've discovered thus far:

1. When I try to edit a custom block, I get this error:
"You don't have permission to access /modules/system/admin.php on this server. Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request."

2. When I try to submit any changes from the General Settings (in Preferences), I get either a blank page or a "Server not found" error.

3. Dates in the forums are corrupted; a post that should say it was posted "Yesterday 12:08:48" instead says "YAmerica/New_YorkstAmerica/New_Yorkrday 12:08:48", for instance.

4. Users are unable to post in most threads, but can post in others.

I tried repairing every table in the database. I tried upgrading from 2.0.13.2 to 2.0.14. I tried deleting the cache and files from templates_c. Nothing seems to work.

Does anyone have a suggestion the cause/fix for this?

CBB has been updated many times since this release.. we're currently on 3.04 I believe.

Have you tried testing the latest release locally?

My understanding was that the 3.X series was for XOOPS 2.2 or 2.3. Is it for use on 2.0.13.2?

Problems with CBB 1.16a

I've been running CBB 1.16a for some time now with no huge problems, but in the last couple of days a couple of problem have emerged:

1. Users are able to post sometimes, but not all of the time. What they get instead is a big white screen. It seems to affect threads in a specific area of the site.

2. When users post, their posting times are garbled. For instance, a post made today had this for the time posted: "T2006day 10:00:36"

I also noticed that although it's being reported as CBB 1.15, it's actually CBB 1.16a.

Has anyone else encountered this, or have any ideas on what might be the cause?

On a side note, how easy is it to convert to IPB for XOOPS from CBB? I've had a couple of requests for that, and I'm starting to lean that direction.

Well the IP banning has stopped the porn trackback but I am still being spammed on more general topics and what else ASm I blocking when i put the IPs on ban??

So I had a little look around the world of php and blogs and I reckon by editing the .htaccess file and using http referrer blocks you can put a partial stop to it...now there are two types of block and i have used them both....not sure if they will work ok together...you tell me but having borrowed some code and looked at recent trackbacks i came up with this:

*** SNIP ***

Hey, macmend, did that end up working for you? If so, I'll be sure to throw it on.
