I needed a module to integrate an Amazon aStore into my XOOPS site, so after a lot of piddling about with various failed attempts to get it to integrate properly, I ended up putting this module together.

If anyone else also has need of this module, it is available from my website downloads section athttp://www.petfinderonline.co.uk/

I have a working version in use called Pet Store on the navigation menu.

I have often wondered what the small index.html files are for in most of the folders ??

Quite a few have <script>history.go(-1);</script>, placed in the html and some are completely blank.

What is their purpose and what do they do ??

mxdirectory security risk and loophole

Don't know whether I put this in the right section.......

Whilst registered users can sign up and submit details to mxdirectory, if they want to update and change their details at any time, which is a beneficial asset for advertisers to keep their details up to date. The only way they can do this is to leave the --

'Allow registered users to submit link modifications?' must be left to 'Yes' in admin.

But this I found out accidentally causes a securtity risk and loophole open to ALL registered users. Because not only can they change their own details, they can also change anybody else's.

How can this be altered so that only the person who submitted his details can change them and not be able to change others details

Oh I'll chip in too on this one. When I checked out the payment ratio to click thrus on google ads, I found it wasn't worth bothering with. Seems to me only google make money out of this and everybody that has google ads on their sites is just filling google pockets.

I would certainly go down the affiliate root, but only get affiliates that would match with what your site is about.

On my wedding site I only take on affiliates that would have products that would only interest someone getting married.

On my pet finder site, likewise I target getting affiliates that would have pet products or services. Also if your running the site on a freebie or donation basis, entice viewers nicely that by buying from your affiliate links is helping to keep your site going.

Don't take the blind affiliate root and just place affiliates for the sake of it, you won't earn a bean if what your promoting is totally different to your sites content.

Even then, don't expect fortunes out of it, do it right and you should be able to cover your hosting costs with a couple of pints down the pub on top.

About how to use this feature in myAlbum-P 2.8

I've looked at the instructions and cannot make head nor tail of what I am suppossed do do to enable the extra Albums facility.

HOW TO use myAlbum-P multiply
myalbum0
myalbum1
myalbum2

Is there a simpler explanation of how to do this as I do not understand. What do I have to change/replace in what files to get this enabled.

Also how do I stop the sub-categories showing on the main menu?

Think I'd rather let users link the image from their site rather than upload them to my space as I will be getting quite a few signing up and others may start to use someone else's images.

----------------

As to the listing levels. The method you mention still does not work correctly. Whilst I can place Platinum listings in the Sponsored link section, the Platinum listing should still remain at the top without doing this. Lower graded listings are still getting better placings as the module is defaulting to alphabetical order instead of listing type.

I am using all the levels from normal listing to platinum listing. Now, if using the Sponsored link section is enabled for all paying entries, after all if they are paying then they are sponsoring, from copper up to platinum, then the module still seems to default to alphabetical listings, instead of placing platinum on top, gold second, silver third and so on as it should do. I've got 2 copper lisings above a platinum listing in one area and a copper listing infront of a silver listing in another, although they are in alphabetical order they are not in listing type order as they should be.

I'm getting it in the neck with one paid for listing complaining to me about this and I can't give him the answer he wants to hear as I don't know what the resolution is to this situation.

mxdirectory 3.0 RC1 problems

XOOPS Version:2.0.15 with form.php fix
Module Name/Version: mxdirectory 3.0 RC1
PHP Version:4.3.10
MySQL Version:3.23.49

Problem 1

Whilst there is the facility on the submit form in mxdirectory to allow customers to upload a 'Logo' for their business listing in Gold and Platinum levels, there does not seem to be a facility for customers to upload extra pictures/photos to be added to their Ads.

On the matrix.php page there is this line that states:-
----------------------------------------------------
Photos & Images
Add photos to your display ad. Whether it is a photo of you business, products, services, supplier logos, etc. Adding pictures to your display ad will help promote your business.
----------------------------------------------------

I have a customer wanting to know how to add the extra images to his listing, I'd like to know how to do this. Is this something that was left out on the submission form? Or is there some other way of doing this?

Problem 2

I find that mxdirectory does not seem to differentiate between paid for and free listings, but will only place listings in alphabetical order, irrespective of type of listing.

I would have thought that if someone paid for a 'Platinum Listing' that this would default to the top of any page that their listing was placed. But this is not happening as free listings are being placed above a 'Platinum Listing', and only seems to be working in alphabetical order.

What settings need to be enabled or disabled in the mxdirectory module to correct this, so that a 'Platinum Listing' will default to the top of a page and a 'Gold Listing' to default bellow a platinum etc etc and any free listing will be placed at the bottom.

module spidering?

If I set up an articles module and have this only available for 'webmasters' to access, set via the admin panel and say one other group called 'elite' for instance. Would the contents that are included in this module be accessable and spidered by the search engines as normal?

I'm not looking for a way to stop this happening, in fact the reverse.

Does anyone have an answer, opinion or idea to this?
