This is probably simple to most users but it was a B**CH for me.

To be clear I found this Captcha and Liaise hack somewhere in the forums.

But as far as I can tell there are no language files to define the descriptions for "Sicherheitscode" and "Code-Eingabe" which I determined to be "Security Code" and "Please enter the Security Code".

Before you beat your head on the wall for a few hours as I did take a look at modules/liaise/include/form_render.php. Sorry, I can't give you line numbers because I only have notepad but if you search it you will find it.

Next up: I need to define the error messages to English and I would like to figure out a way to send the visitor back to the form with some error checking messages if they did not enter the information or entered it incorrectly. But thats probably next weekend work.

Unless someone else wans to jump in.

I will post it up if I figure it out,

Steve

Saved by th group once again, Thank You sato-san!

Quote:
Run upgrade2.php from your admin interface (.../liaise/admin/upgrade2.php)

The upgrade file incorrectly says to run upgrade.php.

Been struggling with this for a while but is works great when you run the right file.

This is a great module and a great hack.

Thanks to all,
Steve

Not sure I understand the question. Are you having trouble getting your email? Or do you want a module that will act as a mail program?

I am also looking into two other possiblities to get the date/time right. Maybe a way to use the ISP's timezone or even the users pc. Any thoughts on this would also be GREATLY appreciated.

Just looking for the best and most accurate way to get this right.

Thanks again,

Steve

Hi All,

I'm working on my first theme and I'm having a whole lotta fun with time/day.

My servers site says thier servers are located in California, USA, and I'm located in Arizona, USA but if that was actually the case in XOOPS Admin I would set the server timezone as (GMT-8:00) Pacific Time... and the default timezone to (GMT-7:00) Mountain Time... HMMM, then why do I have to set the sever timezone to (GMT+2:00) Athens... to get CBB to produce the right time/date? OK maybe thier not REALLY located in California, I can deal with that. This paragraph only illustrates information and what I think I know.

So.. In the theme I'm using the following Smarty Tag:
<{$smarty.now|date_format:"%A, %B %e, %Y"}>
and that obviosly produces the date where the server is loocated.

Two questions:

I've been combing through the CBB files trying to figure out how CBB gets it right but I can't find it. Can anyone point me to the right file where CBB sets the time?

Or is it possible to edit the Smarty Tag or run a php script something like smarty.now -8hrs? I know thats a bad example I'm obviously not a programmer.

Thanks for any help/suggestions/ideas/resource links/critisism/ etc in advance

Steve

I have been working on this all day and this post definately showed me the starting point. - Thanks softjc!

One note, with my host (who was absolutely no help) it was also nessesary to overide the subject.

/**
* Sets the Subject of the message.
* @access public
* @var string
*/
var $Subject = "Message from mysite.com";

In my case I made all of the changes softjc suggested, and the subject line, then set the Mail delivery method to SMTPAuth.

That was the ONLY thing I could get to work.

On to the next challenge,

Steve

XOOPS DB Backup & Restore 3.0 (and) CBB

Hi all,

I have just recently moved a site to a new server. I used XOOPS DB Backup & Restore 3.0 to back up the db. Dumping the whole db was out of the question due to two tables, so I dumped each table separately (all 84).

The two problematic tables where bb_posts_text and protector log (error messages listed below). Researching the issue I found that many had had the same problem with the bb_posts_text table and they all found their own creative ways to get around the issue. I used the source from the modules to create the tables, then dumped the data.

I don't think this is an issue with the integrity of the back up file or method (i.e.: manual import through phpmyadmin, gzip, or SQl) as I and others have tried many methods and seem to have problems with the same tables.

My Question: Is it possible to edit the code in the modules that produce the problematic tables or the code in XOOPS DB Backup & Restore to provide an entire db dump?

This one's over my head as I'm not a programmer and weak with mysql. I just read/test/anguish for each and every problem.

Thanks for any advice/help in advance.

Steve

OK I have learned a great deal since my origional post, via "pay as you go" (I now have six testing sites), devouring this site, testing and a great deal of googling.

Although I have resolved the security issues via php.ini in literally every folder in my site, I was hoping to re-address the VPS topic.

I have never used a VPS host and they can be very costly to use the "pay as you go" method.

VPS hosts seem to be very restrictive on storage and bandwidth (very scary). Additionally it would be nice to find a VPS resellers host.

SO... Anyone happy enough with thier VPS host to recommend them?

Thanks,

Steve
