Well the link to the image was 404 not found. Are you or were you using the default theme or a downloaded theme? You may have also uploaded some files that got corrupt. Don't have much to go on at this point.

What you are looking for is a news syndication module. Something that can handle RSS news feeds. The module I use on my site is XMline. I use it to show industry news in the communications industry and national news from three of the top news websites. It works perfect for what I wanted and may be exactly what you want.

Another good syndication module that I have tried is xhld.
Either one of these should do what you are asking.

I have also used xhld and it worked well. I ultimately ended up using XMLine on my 2.2.4 XOOPS site and it works real good. I have headline/spotlight news feeds on my front page related directly to my company. I then have related industry news feeds and national news feeds linked under those with icons. Having the ability to have a module like this was one of the selling points of XOOPS for me.

davidl2,

Thank you very much for the quick response and yes I do remember reading the news item you mentioned.

So I guess my next question would be do you know of a time frame when XOOPS will again allow avatar uploads? Or is there a way a moderator or admin could add one for us if we provided one?

Again than you very much for your help. Love XOOPS and love the site.

Regards,
JP

Ok I think I messed up somewhere. On this site I was able to upload my own avatar after 20 or 30 posts I can't recall the exact number. Well I desided I wanted something new so I deleted my old avatar and now I can't upload a new one . Has avatar uploads been disabled or do I need to post more to be able to upload a new avatar ?

AlexSolo, yes there is a directory that XOOPS creates called templates_c. Delete the contents of that folder and new templates will be created when you load the site up again in your browser.

I am firewalled as well and had to make sure it would not block me running a web server. Now that you have it working you might try to reinstall Filseclab and see what happens. Also read the documentation for the firewall when setting it up. A lot of these firewalls are install and forget type setups and most people don't usually set up a server (ftp, web, mail etc.) on their personal machines so the default firewall rules can be overly protective esspecially on inbound connections from others to your service what ever that may be. With a little tweaking I'm sure you can have XOOPS and Filseclab working well together.

Good luck and have fun setting up XOOPS the way you want. The XOOPS community is always here to answer questions or help with troubles if you run into any. Make sure you search the forums and read the FAQ's as many of the questions you might have may very well have been answered before. I know I have run across many myself already after I already asked.
