A beginner who just installed Appserv 2.4.4a with XOOPS 2.0.13 on a WIN XP Pro yesterday and it has been working (I could log-in and started adding modules yesterday) until today. Typinghttp://127.0.0.1 in browser and I only get an error message "... unable to log in your website as it is too busy... please try later...".

I had tried to uninstall the Appserv and reinstall again, but Apache seems not working any more as I cannot see it in Task Manager, and I failed to log on the usual page in my browser after Appserv installation (by typinghttp://localhost).

Are there some experts who are kind enough to shred my some light how I would check what is wrong with my system.

Appserv is pretty straight forward. I use it myself on a Win2K machine. Check the authors website http://www.appservnetwork.com/ and make sure you installed apache,php and MySQL correctly. It doesn't sound like an XOOPS problem esspecially if apache is no longer running. Make sure you installed apache as a service on your windows machine.

Thanks for your help. Since I did install a firewall software (called Filseclab Personal Firewall) and one SSL plug-in for my e-mail notifier (POP Peeper). By trial and error, I removed the Filseclab and gave it another shot. Now after I reinstall the Appserv and XOOPS, it is working fine, so far. Thanks for your kind advice and as a rookie, I appreciate very much that someone out there is ready to help whenever. Thanks again.

I am firewalled as well and had to make sure it would not block me running a web server. Now that you have it working you might try to reinstall Filseclab and see what happens. Also read the documentation for the firewall when setting it up. A lot of these firewalls are install and forget type setups and most people don't usually set up a server (ftp, web, mail etc.) on their personal machines so the default firewall rules can be overly protective esspecially on inbound connections from others to your service what ever that may be. With a little tweaking I'm sure you can have XOOPS and Filseclab working well together.

Good luck and have fun setting up XOOPS the way you want. The XOOPS community is always here to answer questions or help with troubles if you run into any. Make sure you search the forums and read the FAQ's as many of the questions you might have may very well have been answered before. I know I have run across many myself already after I already asked.
