I tried installing XOOPS Gallery and had a disaster. The messages on the install page seemed to indicate that it installed successfully -- except that it processed only 3-4 actions before saying "installed successfully" and showing the "Back to Module Administration" link.

On the Module Administration page, there is now a row for the module. However, it has no icon and no title, and just shows the label "Module File for Not Found!"

The XOOPX Gallery folder is under the /modules folder. Otherwise, it would not have shown up in the list of modules available to install. So, I have no idea what's causing this message. But that's not the real problem.

I want to uninstall it, of course. So I deactivated the module. But clicking on the uninstall icon is useless. Obviously, this is related to the "Module File for Not Found!" problem. The uninstall link is

admin.php?fct=modulesadmin&op=uninstall&module=

... in other words, no module to pass to the admin.php script!

Somehow, by trying to uninstall or maybe some other action, I managed to get **two** rows in my Modules Administration page to show the no icon/no title/"Module File for Not Found!" phantom.

I really just want to clean this up and try a different gallery module. However, I don't know what to do to get rid of these rows, and I'm worried that trying anything else will just give me another phantom row in the Modules Administration page.

Heeeeeeeeelp!

Thanks,

Jim

Thanks. I wasn't expressing a preference for MyDownloads. I was expressing a preference for laziness/simplicity (not adding a module if the functionality is already there). WF-Downloads looks like one of the most popular, so that's a pretty good reason to start with it, too.

Thanks again,
Jim

Several of the downloads modules in the modules repository refer to the "MyDownloads module" in the "core".

Does this mean that I don't need a separate module for file downloads if I just want basic downloads functionality? If so, where do I find MyDownloads in my installation? If there is other basic functionality built into the "core", where do I find that?

I'd rather not install another module unless I need it.

Thanks,
Jim

XOOPS Editors Problems

I installed xoopseditors, but XOOPS Info indicates multiple problems under Editors Info:

Compact and DHTML have green dots, indicating everything is ok with them.

The following had red dots, indicating that XOOPS can't find a file:

FCKEditor
HtmlAreaEditor
InBetween
Koivi Editor
Spaw
Tiny Editor

For FCKeditor, I noticed that the expected path was /class/fckeditor/, and not /class/xoopseditor/fckeditor, so I moved the folder (fckeditor), and now I get a Yellow Dot, indicating that the module is not installed but the file is found.

For Koivi Editor, I noticed a similar problem, the path expected was /class/xoopseditor/wysiwyg/ and not /class/xoopseditor/koivi, so I renamed it, and now I get a yellow dot.

I can't be as certain about Tiny Editor; there's a /tinymce folder in the xoopseditor package, but the file name doesn't quite match, so just renaming that folder seemed like a useless idea.

However, it seems clear that I have general problems with my editors, and I want to solve these before I install any content modules, because I had problems with my first installation and scrapped it.

I'm trying another host, too. Neither my first host nor this one will change register_globals or allow_url_fopen to the settings recommended, so XOOPS Info is showing red dots there, too.

Any ideas? Are register_globals and allow_url_fopen deal-breakers for getting the editors properly installed? (It seems to me that the folder names, etc., indicate other problems that I'd like to resolve first.)

Thanks,
Jim

I think all the Protector options for sanitising were already selected. I'm just stuck at this point. None of the installed modules seem to work.

I'm thinking of just starting over; is there a standard un-install procedure? I'm assuming that just deleting a folder under modules will not clean up the database.

Thanks,
Jim

Quote:
Go to the modules "Preference" in Admin and turn on "sanitising".

I did a word search (Firefox) and did not find this in any of the Preferences screens
* General Settings [Edit]
* User Info Settings [Edit]
* Meta Tags and Footer [Edit]
* Word Censoring Options [Edit]
* Search Options [Edit]
* Mail Setup [Edit]
* Authentication Options [Edit]

Are these the screens you meant? If so, where is sanitising? If not, where should I look?

Thanks,
Jim

I have not been able to get my installation to work. I have managed to get one link submitted under wflinks admin but cannot add any more. When I add a new link under link management, I get a blank screen at /modules/wflinks/admin/index.php, which is the page returned after editing a new link under link management. When I hit the return key in the URL address window, I get a refreshed WF-Links Main Index (admin) page, but the link I just published does not appear.

The only way I was able to get my one link working was to "edit resource" where it is displayed on Main Index and add a URL resource. I don't understand this at all, since this whole module is supposed to be about displaying links, and all I did was re-enter the url information for the link that I had already published.

I have to guess that my problems are not WF-Links specific, since I can't seem to get other modules to work well. XOOPS info seems to indicate that just about everything is fine except for allow_url_fopen, which is not disabled.

So, the blank screen might be a reaction to contamination, but I can't figure out anything more than that.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,
Jim

You are correct, gestroud. Happy Linux forum does address the issue. I found this adviceQuote:

Go to admin panel
Under System Admin goto Preferences -> General Settings

Turn on "Check templates for modifications?"

Save go to your page and see if things are working correctly if they are then you can go back and turn the "Check templates for modifications ?" back off and you should be good.

Unfortunately, that does not solve the problem for me, even when I follow all of your steps plus those additional steps.

I did post the problem there, too, but since the solution seems to work for others and not for me, I think I probably have some other problem with my installation.

Thanks,
Jim

I did all that (in that exact order) but I still get the same error, but I realized that part of the problem is a path error in the url.

instead of

http://hoahuntersrun.com/modules/weblinks/viewcat.php?cid=1

the url is just

http://hoahuntersrun.com/viewcat.php?cid=1

However, even when I type in the URL, I still don't see any links on the page. I get all the link navigation, but I can see when I mouse over them that they all point to paths at the root, not paths under /modules/weblinks.

So, where did I go wrong and point to the wrong path?

And even in weblinks, when I type the correct url, why are the links not showing? Is it related to the path?

While I'm on the subject of paths, there's no www. in mine -- is that something I can change in mainfile.php, or does it require more than that file? (the main site comes up when I use www.hoahuntersrun.com, but all other pages drop the www.)

Thanks,
Jim

Well, to cut a long story short, I have upgraded to 1.31 and installed Happy Linux Frameworks -- I think.

I had to delete the old weblinks folder, because my host file manager would not let me copy files over the existing one.

I've had a few error messages from the main Web Links admin screen. One message said that a config table was not initialized, or something like that. I did not write it down, and then the message changed the next time I loaded the page.

Next it displayed, in a big red banner at the top:

Token Error
No valid ticket-stub pair found.

But I was able to navigate the various screens in Web Links admin. And the error message no longer appears.

Module Configuration 2 is a bit strange, since it is in the main index.php page but scrolled down beyond the first few screens. It took me awhile to figure that out, actually I found it from Module Configuration 3, which links to an anchor.

The module is set NOT to display links in a frame.

Anyway, now I have a new problem. When I click on the link category, I get an error page
Quote:

Not Found
The requested URL /viewcat.php was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/1.3.37 Server at hoahuntersrun.com Port 80

So, I'm lost on what to do next. I checked in the admin side to make sure the link exists, and the categories exist, so I don't see why the page is missing.

Thanks,
Jim
