Wow, great responses already. So this is not something that anyone has developed thus far, then. I will look into it, although my coding skills suck. But maybe someone can do a beter job than I.

Has anyone developed a bookmarklet that will allow a user to post on the News module? Many blog packages have this function already. Has someone done this? It is really the only thing I miss in Xoops. I like to be able to right click (or click a bookmarklet) and post something I see online on the fly.

Any insight?

I added something to my menu but it is available to all users, not just those logged in or registered. I want to make this item available to only registered users. Any ideas?

Please help me... As posted earlier in this thread, I cannot access my admin menu. I am also noticing I have lost all of my avatars. The avatar images are THERE in the directory, just XOOPS does not see them. I don't know what is going on.

I installed the XDirectory module and since the installation, I cannot access the Admin menu. I get the error "This is your first time to enter the administration section. Press the button below to proceed" and it goes through the motions of logging me in, then returns to that error again.

The rest of the site seems to work. I have made no other changes. How can I get around this and perhaps remove the offending module?

Thanks in advance.

I have been using XOOPS for about a month and have been quite impressed with the system and how configurable it is. I am looking to rebuild an old project of mine. It is a karaoke site. The old site was built usig Front Page and Access 2000. I want to build the new site with Xoops, PHP, and MySQL. I want to have forums, news, reviews, etc.

What I want is a database of locations to do karaoke. The table will have data on what nights a week that establishment has a show, who is the jockey, what sort of drinks they have (beer/wine or liquor), whether they have food, pool tables, darts, basic info about the establishment, a map link and link to get driving directions.

On the old site, a visitor could check a few checkboxes on a form and submit a query. For example, list all bars that serve liquor and have karaoke on Tuesday nights in Tampa. Up would come a results page, with each listing being a link to a dynamic sumary page of that bar.

As I said, I was able to do this in Access with a Front Page wizard to build the forms and queries. Is there a XOOPS module, either current or in development, that has that sort of functionality? Or am I looking at building queries in PHP and banging on this myself?

Any help appreciated.

You need to show the error messages to your hosting company. Your hosting company has disabled URL file-access and other access mode.

Yeah. GoDaddy. Harumph...

They have the thing turned off for "security reasons". I guess that explains why the RSS parser script I uploaded did not work, too. Oh well, there is always Feedroll.

When I click on the XOOPS Headlines:

Warning: fopen(): URL file-access is disabled in the server configuration in /home/content/d/a/v/davedorm/html/modules/xoopsheadline/class/headlinerenderer.php on line 62

Warning: fopen(https://xoops.org/backend.php): failed to open stream: no suitable wrapper could be found in /home/content/d/a/v/davedorm/html/modules/xoopsheadline/class/headlinerenderer.php on line 62

When I click on the other feeds:

Warning: assert, dl, mysql_pconnect, shell_exec() has been disabled for security reasons in /home/content/d/a/v/davedorm/html/class/xml/saxparser.php on line 73

Hope this helps...

BTW, can you read XOOPS news from admin?

No. Nothing comes up when I click.

I'll try debug mode.

Can you elaborate on what your troubles were?

I don't have any problems with the modules, and neither do many other users. It would be helpful if you provide some detailed information, XOOPS version for one.

Xoops version is 2.0.6

I load the module and it does not list the XOOPS Site headlines. It lists nothing. When I add my own headline sites, it just loads a blank module with the following:

Updated
Description
Webmaster
Category
Generator
Language

...but no content.

I don't know what I am doing wrong... help!
