this is pretty much what I tried previously, though I hardcoded the table width into the HTML, rather than using CSS.

Unfortunately, this doesn't work either. I've set the widths of the columns in the css, and that seems to work ok. the columns though, have split apart, and there's a gap between them.

I seriously don't know where I'm going with it any more, should I just start over with the theme ?

Just another newb, I'm wondering, the block contents can be straight html, and the block will act just like the others once created right ?

It just seems way to easy after my theming haslles.

I'd love to make a fixed width layout, but my efforts haven't gotten me anywhere just yet.

Is there an easy way ? Should I just add a fixed width table / div around the entire template ?

Also, my menus don't line up.

My main / user menu is wider than the rest, due to the table embedded into the block, that pushes it out. How can I get the table to sit nicely inside the block ?

www.stoopidnews.com is the site, you can see I've been messing around with it a lot.

It's not worth upgrading, this old computer is so slow with any other version, I'd rather risk the security holes.

I also know that other people trying to access it may get the same effect, I'd ratehr find a fix for everyone.

Ok, I have the major layout sorted, I know what I want and where I'm going, but there's still a few minor issues in my way.

The major one is my layout problem. For me, all XOOPS sites overlap. That is, the center column overlaps the left, and the right column overlaps the center. I've taken a screen shot, because I assume not many others encounter this.

Xoops Overlap Screenshot

Is this common, or just me with IE 5 & Win98 ?

The question is, what can I do to fix it ?

Thanks, that link was a lot of help.

I was indeed playing with the default theme rather than creating my own, and hadn't checked all of my CSS evidently.

Thanks for the kind comments !

If you (or anyone else) has the time, I'd really appreciate a screenshot of that problem, as it doesn't show up for me here. I'm also told that it overlaps and looks a bit odd for some...

Any other ideas or comments ?

Hey there everyone. Thanks to a bit of help from here, I've got my new site up and running at www.Stoopidnews.com .

I'm wondering if you'd all have any useful advice for me ?

I mean, I'm kinda set on the general colour scheme, but that's about it. I'm still tweaking the layout, and I'll be adding a right hand column to better distribute everything and add a few custom blocks with static content.

What's wrong with it, what could I improve etc ?

I've just gone through my blocks admin, but it gives no indication as to what styles the block is using.

I traced that back through the source of a page in my browser, and it uses a few different properties through td's and div's. I've played with all of them, but I'm beginning to think there's something I've missed entirely.

Any other ideas ? Thanks a lot for your help thus far !
