I don't specifically know which table, since I don't use this module. However, I had a similar problem with another module.

It had a content field which had the type set as "text", and it was truncating my entries. I changed this to "longtext" (using the phpmyadmin mod) which fixed the problem.

*smacks forehead* okay I'm an idiot. When I was adding the test accounts, I never pressed the "finish" button --- it's been so long since I registered an account that when I saw the data displayed above the 'finish' button, I figured the registration process was complete.

argh, spoke to soon. It now completes the registration, without any error messages. However, no validation email is sent, and no user data is inserted into the xoops_users table, awaiting validation.

When I uninstalled the IPB module, it didn't revert the xoops_users table back to its original state. So I manually went in and removed all the excess table rows which the IPB module added, and in comparing the result to the XOOPS installation db structure (found in the mysql.data.sql file), they look to be the same.

Is there some way I can run an sql command to completely remove xoops_users, then re-add it to the db, then re-insert the admin account info? This is currently a test site so the only account is for the admin.

Thanks, I should have had that switched on in the first place!

It turns out I had forgotten to replace the header.php file during the upgrade (I had customized it which ended up affecting the registration page).

Try searching the forum, this has been discussed at great length. :)

Try changing the type to longtext in your wfsection db table -- this shouldn't affect any existing data.

2.0.6 / cannot register new user

I recently upgraded to v2.0.6 (from 2.0.5) and cannot register any new users.

As I had also decided to uninstall the IPB module, I did that first, then uploaded the full 2.0.6 archive overtop of my existing installation. I then updated the system module.

However when a user tries to register, there is an error message stating "Username is too short. It must be more than 'x' characters." No matter what I change the minimum username value to, it still says it's too short (even though the names I'm trying are not).

I'm trying to hunt down where the problem lies, so if this rings a bell for anyone please let me know! :)

Will you be posting an archive for us to download? I'm not developing this one, I passed it off to Draven, but I know myself and many others are interested in getting something like this working on our sites.

Off the top of my head:

Copy all the module files into a new directory, for example "mynews".

Edit "mynews/xoops_version.php", and change the $modversion['dirname'] line to reflect the new directory (you might also have to edit/rename the block and template names too).

Edit "mynews/sql/mysql.sql", and change the name of the two tables (edit the CREATE TABLE names).

Edit "mynews/admin/index.php", and change this line to reflect the new directory:
include_once XOOPS_ROOT_PATH."/modules/news/class/class.newsstory.php";

There might be a number of references to the directory name within any module files. These will all have to be changed.

No guarantee the above will work, but it's a start.

This probably isn't an answer, but in the perl/html world, I've had strange display problems when certain files were uploaded in binary mode rather than ascii.

When you look at the table for the chat, is the message stored in the same way? Can you view the source to see if it's doing something strange like adding line break tags after each character?
