+1 from me as well. We could even add a web client for the channel. freenode is a great place for FOSS projects, quite a lot have channels there.

SOLVED***SOLVED***SOLVED***

My problem was due to all of the users being "magically" deleted from the "Groups". In other words, me...being the Admin/Webmaster was deleted as well as everyone who registered prior to July 3rd, 2007.

People like Bandit-X who registered afterwards where allowed to log in as they were automatically placed in the Registered User group.

From what I read on another forum, one of the causes of this is switching how people register and are approved for the site. In my case, I did not change this setting. But I did delete some *spammmers* that had recently registered. Maybe this is a problem in 2.2.X branch of XOOPS?

I would like to thank everyone who helped me solve this problem. You guys are the best!!!!!!

I wish I could remember where I found the documentation for the fix of the "Webmaster being deleted" but think it was on the Dutch XOOPS site.

I am having exactly the same problems. After deleting about 10 or so spammer accounts (all using ***@list.ru as an email address) I cannot login to the site.

What exactly were the fixes you used? I cannot seem to find anything on this.

I have been using surpass for about 3 years with minimal issues on 2 domains (shared hosting). They have always been very quick to respond to my emails or tech support tickets.

I don't visit their forums much (haven't needed to)

I would recommend them if someone is looking for hosting

you could try renaming it back to what it was before, or even try deleting the module's folder (back up first!!), then try uninstalling via the admin panel. Even if the folder is not there, its setup is still in the database

also if you turn on php debugging, it may show an error message that may lead to an answer as well

This is exactly the sort of thing I am looking for!

With a solid core and nice modules, I need to focus on the look of my sites. there are many great themes out there, but I want to be better able to make may own them, or at least modify an existing one much more than the basics to fit my wants and needs.

your welcome!

I have a 2.2.x site that had that problem for months before I found the cause just this past week

mine were from unused modules I had uploaded, though I forgot to note which one it was

you can try removing folders (other than System) in your /modules dir one at a time to see if one of them is the culprit.

Do you get any php debug errors at all?

it looks like you have version 2.2.x (a somewhat deprecated release), the current stable version (2.0.16) does not have these files (it has a different file as specified release notes in the archive)

the login popup option (as I see from opening the script file) specifies that it is for logins using ssl, so unless you have that, you can't really use it. Anything in the 'extras' folder would need to be uploaded to wherever it should go. For example, the login.php script says this:
Quote:
This script displays a login screen in a popupbox when SSL is enabled in the preferences. You should use this script only when your server supports SSL. Place this file under your SSL directory

If a module contains and 'extras' folder inside it, most likely it should stay right where it is (inside the module's folder) but definitely read its documantation to make sure.

As for the theme files, it may be good for experimentation and testing, but you can format your news into 2 or more columns using the latest news module without any mods I believe.

So imo, if you really wish to use XOOPS 2.2.x, I would ignore the extras folder altogether

I think, at least in Outlook, you may need to enable/allow html in the preview pane.

I second this request :)
It is exactly the kind of feature I would like to see as part of the Find Members section
