I know there's a massive discussion dated for August about the inclusion of a universal Frameworks for Xoops in the Dev Forums, and I've real them all, and there's about a gajillion references to the word "Framework" throughout the forums. I just have a simple question:

What is the current version of Frameworks? I have the version that came with my xoops install, I have one that is packaged as 1.22, one that is packaged as frameworks-art, and one that is packed as 1.60 (currently installed on my site in the xoops root directory). In the module repository, I see modules such as x-Forums 5.46 which lists a certain version of Frameworks as a prerequisite for operability, and forum posts for modules like cbb that mention frameworks, but don't tell me what version to be using.

All that being said, can someone please either tell me what version I should be using and where can it be downloaded, or who do I find out what version I need for my site and where to get it?

I swear, I need to learn to read and program in php so I can understand half of these forums.

here's a shortcut I eventually found to solve the problem of being able to view registrant details before activating the accounts.

First, don't click the nifty icon that says "Edit Users" that is found on the Administration page. I'm not sure why the page it takes you to exists, but it's not where you (if your goals are the same as mine) want to be. from the toolbar, click Modules > Profile.

THis next screen looks much like the one the aforementioned icon takes you to, but this has tabs for different features (Users, Categories, Fields, etc.) if you select the userID from this page, you will see all the fields in the registration form including a pair of radio buttons for Active and Inactive. This page shows me the address so I can verify the user before activating the account.

cool.. this will show me un-activated users? I'll try it. I'd still like to change the emails that I get. I still get one that says,

<example>
KermitFrog has just registered!
</example>

and another one that says, well, everyone here knows whatthe second email looks like. I'd just like to get one email that says sometihng like,

<example>
A new user has just registered!

Username
Realname
Address

To approve this new registration, please click this link.

Okay, now I'm worried. My neighborhood site is up for a month now, and I"m finally getting neighbors to register. Now I find this thread? What's the fate of Xoops? Do I have reason to be concerned and start studying the systems that I ranked as the Runners-up to Xoops for fear and preperation of Xoops falling flat? Or can I trust that the source of whatever drama all this stemmed from is resolved and Xoops is back on track to being the freaking awesome CMS I hold every faith it will be?

For the record, I find version 2.4.4 to be a darn good platform, where it's only shortcomings are in the fact that people who are less familiar with the system (or the internet) ie, non-geeks, have a hard time navigating the system between the modules. Beyond that, I thank the core dev teamfor a great CMS.

Hello Fellow XOOPS Users!

I have put together a web space for the exclusive use of my residential community and Homeowners Association using version 2.4.4 and I have discovered I need to make some (What I think are) small alterations to the Profile Module and I need some help to make them actually happen. Since I have absolutely no programming skill beyond a Semester of Programming Logic and a pinch of Visual Basic, I definitely appreciate any help I can get.

Since this is a private site intended for the homeowners, I need to be able to see registrant details before activating the accounts. therefore:

1) How can I edit the email I get when a person registers for an account on my site? I get two emails, one says "username" has registered for an account and the other is an activation key, a link I can click to approve the registration and activate the account. What's the point of requiring registration and account activation if site admins have to activate accounts blind? I really need the contents of multiple fields included in the email so I can verify the account is legit and not some random Internet surfer registering with bogus info to get a look around.

2) If I happen to be logged in my administrator account on my site and decide to look at the user list and find a new un-activated account, How can I look at the profile and authenticate the account without activating it first? Again, I have to activate an account BEFORE I can validate it, which defeats the purpose of requiring registration and Admin activation.

So please, does anyone have any ideas or a nifty How-To that's written for Non-programming admins like me?

I'm having a similar issue in 2.4.4. It first manifested in "Lawsuit" by Chronolabs, but I'm now seeing it in xnews, newbbex and ForumEx.

Support request: Lawsuit generates backslashes next to apostrophes

I'm having a small issue with lawsuit 1.13.

I'm driving Xoops 2.4.4 on Apache 2.2 on a commercial, Linux-based server hosted by Hostmonster.

The issue I'm facing is, Lawsuit is placing a backslach to the left of every apostrophe. I try to edit the unwanted character out, but Lawsuit inserts the character everytime the changes are submitted. If there is already a backslash, an additional backslash will be inserted. So, if I put in "I'm" it will become "I\'m" and if I re-submit the page, it becomes "I\\'m" and so on.

Lawsuit is the only module where this is happening. I haven't seen this occur in the News module, Polls, forums, or anywhere else.

Thanks!

PS: I tried to research this on your forum at Chronolabs, but your forum won't display topics or posts to me, and I keep getting errors when I try to post. (Cannot inject post. Array ( ) Error or something along that line.)

Where can I submit feature requests for this module?

Hello, dnprossi and thank you for your swift reply.

Hi, Burning! Good to see you again!

Thank you, dnprossi for telling me aboutthat tagging system checkbox. Somewhere alongthe line, I came under the impression that the XOOPS core had Tag support built in, so I had the feature in xNews 1.68 switched on. I disabled eth feature and the symptoms cleared right up. I went hunting and found a Tag module by who I think is phppp and installed it. It seems to be playing nice with your xNews, so I'm running with it. THank you for putting together such a terrific module. Incorporating a newsletter function is both intuitive and brilliant. (At least, I think it is.)

And Burning, thank you again for the help you were giving me over the last week and a half. You were very helpful in solving my problems.

You both take care.
