The Theme Changer url has altered slightly. Use this link if visiting directly --> Theme Changer

Wish I could read and speak German. Was hard work trying to get the module and gave up after a while. Anyways I took at a look at the XOOPS theme changer and have worked it out myself. Got it working fine now. Check it out here: Xoops Theme Changer. Now all I have to do is make the site look right by altering modules etc and get the zip file download part of the site ready and it is all systems go. Will make this available on my site tomorrow I expect.

Yeah that looks like it. Great.

Thanks.

Edit: I was wrong there. All that page is doing is altering image files. I would like to alter the actual XOOPS theme itself whilst showing the XOOPS site underneath a menu bar - as with my Joomla Template setup here: Joomla Template Changer.

Hi

I have a server on my site now displaying Joomla Themes and I would like to set up a display for XOOPS too - along with other portals and forums. I have a menu at the top of the page that activates the Joomla themes directly so that they show below. For this to work I need to alter the themes by using an url. Is this possible with Xoops?

Hi

I just installed XOOPS 2.2.3. Everything went according to plan but on trying to login the same error above:

Fatal error: getauthconnection(): Failed opening required '/home/fhlinux200/p/programs-4u.com/user/htdocs/xoops/class/auth/auth_nl2br.php' (include_path='.:/usr/share/pear') in /home/fhlinux200/p/programs-4u.com/user/htdocs/xoops/class/auth/authfactory.php on line 33
Warning [PHP]: getauthconnection(/home/fhlinux200/p/programs-4u.com/user/htdocs/xoops/class/auth/auth_nl2br.php): failed to open stream: No such file or directory in file class/auth/authfactory.php line 33

I didn't install any of the 2 options for messaging if that is anything to do with it.

Regards

PS - looks like I am going to have to reinstall an earlier version.

Hi

Seems my comments have proved useful?

My own site has just been altered to Mambo. Believe it or not but XOOPS is still a part of it. I am able to pull in various bits of XOOPS into the Mambo such as the xcomics etc. Obviously the postings such as this one are a bit out of date now with regard to my own site but infact XOOPS will be demonstrated on there under the 'Webmaster' section. I did infact mess about with some themes for XOOPS but time is a factor for me and I just couldn't carry on with theme designing. My site currently holds over 450 company websites and will soon hold a few hundred software ones as well with links to literally thousands of products. Along with all that I am going to develop a Webmaster script section and run a phpBB2 forum that hopefully I can modify with the Hirachy Category coding. Added to the forum will be a shoutbox so people can talk to each other as well. I have many many plans and a great deal of work to carry out . But I enjoy doing it. I even have a home server running in the background and allow DAOC gamers to have their films hosted.

Will pay a visit to your site and see how things are going.

Edit:

Just paid a visit to your site and can see you have been busy. Looks like it is coming on fine. Few things I would do differently but not much. I always try to avoid the site having to reload fully on every link so I use a lot of iframes. The pages load very fast then and there are no white flashes. No need to get involved in that though.

You are having trouble with Flash games? Why not go the full hog and install the flash games module from here? Also the video one is good as well. Infact there is a way to dispense with the actual modules and install the games and videos directly through iframes such as on my site. Again though you don't have to do this so it should be easier for you.

For anyone interested in how to use modules from one portal show in another then I will post details soon. Isn't that hard infact.

There is one module available for Mambo that I am going to look closely at. Why I am mentioning it is because it allows you to create a 'webring'. You can effectively offer webpages to your friends and website visitors and control them. Sounds like something that would be of great benefit to your site. When I have learned more I will repost.

Keep up the good work

Hi

Site is developing well. Real headache though finding something that provides interest so that people keep coming back.

I can see you have a humour section well there are a few modules you could install such as the 'Daily Cartoons' one and also maybe the Flash Games modules and Videos. Great content generators and do not require work from you with regard to updating any content. All that is handled the other end. I have all 3 on my own site infact if you want to see them in action. I don't have hardly any visitors myself yet as I am still developing the site but I do know at least one person that returns everyday to read the cartoon section during her lunch break at work so it seems a worthwhile module to install. Also kids will spend hours, if allowed, in the Flash Games section for sure as I have seen evidence of it with visiting nieces and nephews. I am also looking into RSS news feed so that also will be auto-updated content added to my site. Again something for you to consider.

After cruising and analysing traffic on forums it seems the ones that always have repeat visitors are either games, computer hardware or website developer forums. With this in mind I intend to incorporate a great many forum/portal demos and scripts eventually. Also I intend to make themes available for Xoop users etc. Other than do this I suppose you have to generate a kind of 'community' atmosphere but unless you have that initial 'focal' point of interest for people to home in on it will be hard for sure.

Blimey a bit long this reply .

Your site is looking good overall and has a 'friendly' feel to it and would and will draw me back at times for an update for sure.

View those modules on my own site here if you want(under 'Fun Section'):
My site.

Radical No Menus Xoops

Hi

After converting the Coppermine Gallery 'Fruit' theme to become an XOOPS theme - you can see it here: Coppermine - I thought to try my hand at creating another theme so I could continue to learn how to go about things. I fancied a dark theme so used the basis for the design off Frontpage. About the only thing really that could give cause for concern is the header gif but I can't see that being an issue really.

This new theme is a bit odd because it doesn't use either left or right menus but I have brought in external menus through iframes. The bank at the top are 3 iframes and the section at the bottom is also an iframe. But only the left side menu block code has been removed. I couldn't figure out how to stretch the middle to full when the left block wasn't being used. The right side works though so I left that block in.

The theme should be ready to put on my site by sometime tomorrow I should think but I have to optimize all the code to reduce white flashes which are very evident at the moment. If you visit be aware this is a job in progress so things will alter until settled. I have put a link on the upper left to go to the Coppermine should you want to. Both themes will be worked on until stable and then maybe I can offer them as downloadable themes.

Radical is I think the right word for this design . The 3 menus are on timers to help me smooth things out. They can be made to only show once per browser session (animation) and will be that way soon. The site is viewable but will sure be made a lot smoother within the next few days.

You can view the site here as it is a Mirror test site I use: Dark Theme.

MKJ

Hi

Wow! XOOPS site with a theme I have never seen before. Really impressive.

View the site here: Above site

Can't comment on the content but the overall look is certainly eye catching. Why not make some themes for distribution?
