One other question I have about the mail function in XOOPS system module. If I send 500 e-mails does it open a new connection to the smtp relay for each e-mail it sends?

I am running into an issue with the e-mail function of my XOOPS web sites. I have several web sites that I use XOOPS on and when I try to e-mail all users on each site it will send about 15 to 20 e-mails the hang.

I am currently using AuthSMTP for my mail relay provider and XOOPS is setup to auth to there service and send e-mail.

I am able to send 5 e-mails at a time or 1 at a time like the auto notify messages and stuff all works I just seem to be hitting a cap and I have checked with my service provider to see what is going on and I currently do not have a cap on my account so I was wonder if there was a way to turn on some sort of debugging and if so how do I do that and what files do I need to turn it on for.

One thing I wanted to add was that I am using smtpauth and not sendmail. And I checked with the smtp provider I trying to relay through and they are only seeing 10 to 11 e-mails come from me each time. I have looked through the phpmail stuff and everything looks to be in order.....


Anyone have any more ideas I may try?

Xoops not sending mail to everyone

I'm haveing an issue with XOOPS not able to send e-mail to everyone when I select registered users when useing the mail users section of the admin area.

Basicaly what happends is I have about 400 users on my site and I go to mail all registered users and only 8 mails go out and XOOPS gives me a white screen. Is there a know issue with this or is there a mail module I could install that would allow better mailing capability?

Help I broke my mail functions

Not sure what I did but I can not get my XOOPS site to send mail out. I have serveral XOOPS sites and all but one can send mail. I think I broke the mail function somehow. I am using smtpauth and all the sites use the same server so I know the server is working correctly and the smtp server is also working correctly. I have checked and double check the settings in the mail preferances on the site and they are exactly the same as my other sites.

When I try to mail users I get this error

SMTP Error: Could not connect to SMTP host.

I'm thinking maybe I should manualy replace some of the files in the XOOPS installation maybe this will fix it? not sure but I'm not sure what files I should check or replace with the latest ones. The site has the latest XOOPS build but I am wondering if maybe somehow I broke the mail during the upgrade.

on a side note this site is about 6 years old and I have just upgraded it each time a newer version of XOOPS comes out.

Module for Distro Lists

Xoops has the ability to mail out to all registered users. But I was wondering if there is a module out there that will allow people that just want a news letter or something like that the ability to sign up for a Distribution list rather then having to go through the entire registration process. And basicaly have the built in XOOPS mailing function send out mail when the site admin or whoever wishes to send stuff out to the Distribution lists. it would be nice if a module could house multiple lists and maybe an editor that will allow someone write and preview the news letter before it is sent out.

Anyone know of a module like this or if one is under development?

Do you have the appropreate group selected in the preferances of the module to allow posting?

I am currently using this module without issue however it the english translation is not the best so for some stuff you have to guess as to what it is suppose to do.

Ok I fixed it sorry for the freak out but this is what I had to do I took a current backup of the database files then I went in and edited the SQL files to shutdown the debugg mod on the site and that fixed my issue. Here is the line I modified in the SQL file

(13,0,1,'debug_mode','_MD_AM_DEBUGMODE','1','_MD_AM_DEBUGMODEDSC','select','int',24),


change to

(13,0,1,'debug_mode','_MD_AM_DEBUGMODE','0','_MD_AM_DEBUGMODEDSC','select','int',24),



and this corrected the issue
