I'm trying to set up images in a block to flow across if they are in a wide layout. Problem is they are left (or right) justtified when I do that, so it doesn't look right in a 1-column (e.g. left or right column) position.

I'll probably use the option approach, but I was hoping there was an easier way that would still allow the site admin to set one thing (the position) instead of two (position and desired orientation).

You are very welcome.

Snazzy! I like it

I think that's the one Luxus had me post to the XoopsGallery site, with the "remember me" box. He explained the core team added it but wanted it to be an option, something like that.

I reviewed the wiki he pointed me to and indeed, this is the one.

Isn't there any way to do this? I don't want to resort to DHTML because I think that would over complicate the solution.

You could use a replacement main menu. I've used iMenu and like it, but there was another that was recommended too (I just don't recall the name right now).

With iMenu you just fill in the configuration to set up the links wherever you would like them, in whatever order. Downside is that if you add new modules then you have to update iMenu config yourself.

I have read that XOOPS supports blogger interfaces, so you can set up news items from a blogger client. I also know that you can restrict access to modules based on group membership, but I don't know how you would set up only some entries to be restricted and others public.

Which photo album module? There are several, each very distinct in their state of bugs, support, and development.

If you're shopping for a new one, I would suggest XoopsGallery--it's not perfect but reasonably stable (and getting better when I have the time to improve it). You can find it athttp://www.sciox.org/xoops/ .

Sometimes it just takes a helping hand to get people in view of a new powerful technology... this definately qualifies. With the pervasiveness of Apache and power of htaccess files in general, this is a Very Good Thing, and your post will certainly help get (me anyway!) started there.

Thanks Sunsnapper!

Smarty or XOOPS variable indicating location of block?

Is there a way to tell from within a block if you are rendering within a left or right side block vs. a center block? Either smarty or XOOPS variables would due about equally.

Another helpful thing would be if anyone knows of blocks that adapt to the column they are in regardless of theme.

My blocks are best viewed one way when in the 'skinny' area, but should expand when in the wider areas.
