I am trying to edit the system_block_siteinfo.html file to remove the logo and the recommend us link on the bottom. I edited the file to remove the DIV section at the bottom and uploaded the file but the content is still there (I deleted the original from the server).

So nearly there...... one more thing to do

Either:

1. Go into Admin>Preferences>General Settings and set the radio button for "check for new templates" to "yes". When you have seen the updated template reset it to "no" (important!)

or

2. Go to Modules admin and update the "System" module.

I prefer to use method 1.

PS: Has anyone from the XOOPS France community heard from zoullou lately?

Seems to be very quiet on his website

I can confirm that I'm having the same problem as everyone else, i.e. submitting events from the front-end of the website.

I get the "Wrong date format" message too. Worked previously (IIRC) on XOOPS 2.3.x but not now on XOOPS 2.4.3

No problem editing previously submitted events.

The work-around is to add new events from the admin panel. Okay for me as I'm the only one with permission to submit events on my site but could be a problem for others.

I'm going to have a look at this over the weekend and see if I can find a solution. Might need help though

Two important questions:
- What is the function of the folders xoops_data......

This is the place where temporary/cache files are kept. Such files are generated when a page is viewed.

This contains the guts of the Protector module and is kept away from the rest of the module for security. It is the same thing (to all intents and purposes) as the "trust path" folder used by many of GIJoe's modules.

Why those two folders must stay out of the root?

More secure out of document root - less easily "got at" by naughty people.

Actually, "must" is too strong a word as XOOPS will work with the folders inside document root. It is more desirable for them to be out of doc root, though, so if you can then you should.

1. Download mainfile.php from your server and open it in a text editor.

If you fing that you can't download a copy of mainfile.php or it throws an error message then you may have to set its permissions to "644" or similar first

Normally, XOOPS would use the favicon.ico file found in your XOOPS root directory.

However, I seem to recall that a different version may be used if you're using either the morphogenesis or zetagenesis themes. However, this could be complete hogwash on my part

Some browsers are fussier than others about the size of file used for favicon.ico - easiest way to make sure it works is to make a 16 x 16 pixel .gif file and then rename it. Always works for me

Things to try:

1. Clear your browser's cache too though the browser's tools and delete all files/pages stored.

2. Rather than recreating the files manually, re-upload them from your PC using your FTP software, just like you did when you first installed xoops.

Can you access admin?

Can you login using yoursite.com/user.php?

xcgal 2.03 is running happily on my XOOPS 2.4.3 site.

Does this hit any buttons for you?

All installed modules appear automatically under the main menu unless their visibility is set to zero in modules admin (or is hard-coded as "0" by design).

Many modules have sub-menus when the module is active (i.e. being looked at). You can add more by editing certain files within the module.

Alternatively, you can:

1. Hide the default Main Menu (like you can any other block) and make your own custom menu using the MultiMenu module.

or

2. Make your own menu using a "custom block" and Main Menu settings from the theme's stylesheet like this site. "Active" sub-menus will be difficult though.

Someone has a step by step implementation of this tool?

A "captcha" system is standard on recent releases.

Try registering an account on a current XOOPS set-up and you'll see it on page two of the registration form.

I´d read about module protector for xoops. Is it reliable?

So reliable that it ships with the core and it is highly recommended that users install it.
