Hi guys/gals, I'm seeing the below notices on every page of my website. Does anyone know what it means?

'Database::getInstance();' is deprecated since XOOPS 2.5.4please use 'XoopsDatabaseFactory::getDatabaseConnection();' instead.

And on the front page I get this:
'/class/xoopstory.php' is deprecated since XOOPS 2.5.4please create your own class instead.

'/class/xoopstopic.php' is deprecated since XOOPS 2.5.4please create your own class instead.

'/class/xoopsuser.php' is deprecated since XOOPS 2.5.4please use 'kernel/user.php' instead.

Any thoughts?

Cheers,
Marty.

Mamba, I only have 965 lines and I can see a few instances of the "li" tags Should I remove them all or just the ones at line 944 and line 958? Also, should I be removing the "ul" tags as well?

Thanks,
Marty.

Thanks Mamba, I suspect your version of the news module is much different to mine as my version of News 1.68RC1 only has 965 lines. However, I think I can see the li tags your talking about.

WoW, 700 (possibly more) lines of modifications in this one file?

Cheers Marty.

So, either:
1. People don't test their sites using Firefox/Chrome and have no idea that it doesn't work.

2. People just don't use the "Recent News" block because it doesn't work on all browsers and no-one could give a ????? about it.

3. People that know how, just rebuild it themselves to make it work.

The Xoops News module was one of the founding modules of this CMS, why does it not work seamlessly?

Am I the only person that wants to use this block but can't get it to work out of the box?

Correction: templates/blocks/news_block_top.html

It's strange, what actually differentiates between browsers here?

How is it that some browsers display as intended and others don't?

I can't see anything that I should edit

Cheers,
Marty.

Firefox and Opera do not display the "Recent News" block correctly. Safari, Chrome and IE display the "Recent News" block perfectly.

Can someone point me to the file I need to edit to make this block perform the way it was intended on all the major browsers :)

As always, we need some tests and confirmation from users that it works...

Mamba, I made the changes suggested by Zyspec, written by tzvook, and as far as I can tell all functions work as intended with no errors. Multi-word tags like "test news 01a" are linking as "test+news+01a" which is spot on!!

Multi-word tags are also searchable in the site wide search which is also awesome.

Thanks to tzvook for the hack :) I have implemented this hack into my production site with no issues.

Tag 2.31 - listed in "Basic Module Pack for XOOPS 2.5.5 (recently updated Final releases)"
Xoops 2.5.5
Apache 2.2.23
MySQL 5.0.96-community
PHP 5.3.17

Cheers,
Marty.

Just installed Contact 1.8

Apache version - 2.2.23
PHP version - 5.3.17
MySQL version - 5.0.96-community
Xoops version - 2.5.5

No errors

All components of the module work well and without issue

Only 1 thing I think that would make this excellent module even better. The database records all form entries but "only the comments" are sent to the email address. It would be great if all form entries are also sent to the email address.

Apart from that, all aspects of this module work flawlessly with Xoops 2.5.5

Regards,
Marty.

Or you can rename the module...

WTF Links

Of course you could do that but this is a testing/troubleshooting thread for the developers not a hack thread.

You could help with testing if you have some spare time

Cheers,
Marty.
