Official request XOOPS Project's servers and usage of official domains

Due to the unexpected emergency happened in the past two days and slow response from XOOPS Foundation [refer to "emergency in the past two days"], the XOOPS Project Council realizes that it is time to request the XOOPS Foundation to clarify its role and position in the XOOPS Project.

Hereby the XOOPS Project Council makes the official request to the Foundation :

  1. 1. Hand over XOOPS Project servers to the XOOPS Project Council then managed by the XOOPS Technical Group
  2. 2. Give full access to usage of domains that claimed by the Foundation to be used for the XOOPS Project, including the DNS of xoops.org
  3. 3. A clear statement of the Foundation's organization and its membership
  4. 4. Clarification its role and position in the Open Source Project of XOOPS
  5. 5. Publish a financial report with balance sheet, a profit/loss statement and cash flow statement.

The XOOPS Project Council looks forward to cooperating with the Foundation in any positive way to make the XOOPS Project moving forward.

Emergency in the past two days

Emergency in the past two days

On October 6th, the xoops.org server was hijacked and all www.xoops.org administrator accounts permissions were removed and an account "JMorris" was presented as the only administrator account. The XOOPS Project Council also noticed other management permission changes.

The Council restored webmaster account permissions immediately and sent an official email to the email address associated with "JMorris". Message replied from the "JMorris" account's email confirmed that the permission changes were made by him. Soon after email exchanges, the permissions on www.xoops.org were changed again and xoops.org server root account password was changed as well.

The XOOPS Foundation, who is holding XOOPS Project's servers, was contacted several times from the very beginning since October 6th. Meanwhile, the XOOPS Project Council halted all its actions on www.xoops.org to wait for XOOPS Foundation's response.

By October 8th Herko, the current Foundation Chairman contacted phppp, saying that "JMorris" had given back www.xoops.org administrator accounts.

The XOOPS Project Council appreciates the Foundation's assistance with this issue. Meanwhile, the Project Council looks forward to valid thorough solutions from the Foundation to protect XOOPS Project's servers.

Update kc0maz's membership status in the Project Council

Update kc0maz's membership status in the Project Council

Considering kc0maz's constantly active support in the XOOPS community, in particularly leading the Coordination Team since July as well as acting as a non-voting member in the Project Council since August, the Project Council proposed to make kc0maz (Mr. Michael Clark) as a full member of the Project Council.

Now the Project Council is announcing the review status of kc0maz (Mr. Michael Clark) as a full member. The review status will be kept for one week starting from October 9th, 2007. All valid objections should be sent to xoops-council@googlegroups.com with specific reasons and evidence in case necessary.

All letters sent to XOOPS Project Council for the review will be published by the end of the review status.

Terminate user account "JMorris"

Terminate user account "JMorris" from XOOPS Project's official websites.

Due to www.xoops.org user "JMorris" hijack hehaviors on XOOPS Project servers and the Project's official site www.xoops.org, the XOOPS Project Council is terminating the user account "JMorris" on the XOOPS Project's all official websites and work places.

If a valid request is made, the evidence will be provided, with a disclaimer that is not to be disclosed to anyone else.

Mr. Theme Revamp (+admin)

Please take a look at the new style of Mr. Theme Designs

It would be nice to receive some feedback on the theme. However, the truly special part about Mr. Theme is not really the theme...

Though I think it is pleasant

The real highlight about this site is the homogenization throughout.

I have implemented my design throughout my admin panel as well. It is a shame that I cannot let you in my admin panel to look for yourselves, however I can give you pics.

Project Council Report For September

1. Membership

Dave_L was the chairman for September until he resigned on September 15th. Phppp assumed the duties as chairman until October 1st. Christian will be the chairman for October.

2. Work Progress

2.1 Updates on Project Official xoops.org Website

2.1.1 XOOPS Project Team Pages

Upon the request of several members of the community, the Project Council has updated Aboutus pages and posted proper personnel information. The information is going to be updated very soon to reflect new changes.

2.1.2 Re-open of XOOPS Module Repository

The XOOPS Module Repository had been closed for more than one year to expect a "soon-open" repository site. However, due to the delayed server migration and, consequently, the delayed site reorganization, the repository had been in a dead status, which caused much inconvenience to users.

To resume module updates and provide XOOPS users with a central download place, the repository is reopened and maintained temporarily by phppp and Chrisitan before a repository team is built.

A new download of repository site is going to be designed and maintained by a repository team. The team functionality could either be done by a new-built regular team or by an existent team. Establishment of the site and team is open to discuss.

Imac k Theme with drag&drop&collapse and dockmenu

Imac_k is a 3column XOOPS theme

Theme has drag&drop&collapse functions on the right and left column, all states are cookie driven so they maintain state on site navigation.

Imac_k also have a docked menu (fisheye) at the bottom which can be easily configured. On its far right side you will find "theme by aphex" stamp wich is forbidden to remove without prior consent by me.

Package includes the header PSD for personalization.

SlickTheme by XoopsExperts.com

Hi everyone,

SlickTheme is a slicked up version of the default Xoops theme, with Ajax tabs embedded. You can use these tabs as a dynamic menu to present drop-down submenu links, graphics, or any other kind of content.

Tested in FF, IE6 & IE7...so far so good. You can use this theme with or without the Ajax tab navigation.

With Tabs:

This theme has the Ajax tabs embedded by deault. All you have to do to use the Ajax tabbed version is to add your root URL to several places in the theme code, as described in the README file. I couldn't use <{$xoops_url}> due to the way the Ajax script works.

Without Tabs:

  1. Simply save "theme_notabs.html" as "theme.html"
  2. Delete "menupages" and "ajaxtabs" folders

News 1.56 released

Instant-zero is happy to announce you the release of a new version of the Xoops News module.

First, we would like to declare that this new version, 1.56 is the last one which will support Php 4. The Php team decided to not anymore support Php 4 at the end of the year 2007 (and this is an excellent decision). The next releases of our other modules are in the same case.

This new version brings an important change in the PDFs generation. The library used up today was changed to use tcpdf. This library is much more powerful for the generation of PDFs and it can include the pictures of your articles.

Pictures can be included in your articles but they must be in the PNG or in the JPEG format (and not interlaced). To be able to use this new library, you will have to update your module but you will have to also update your templates. If you don't see any difference after you updated the module in the PDFs, that's because your templates are not up to date.

There is a drawback to this library, if your text contains a GIF picture or an interlaced PNG or JPEG, then you will not see the PDF. Another consequence of the use of this library, that's its size! The module's archive is now 7 Mb.

If you have too much problems with this library, the old library was not removed from the module so you just have to modify the news_article.html template and to replace modules/news/pdf/pdf.php by modules/news/makepdf.php

Some hacks suggested on this site were added to the module. As a consequence, there is a new translation (see the lang.diff) file.

If you are already using the News module, copy the news files to your website and be sure to update your templates.
