XOOPS: Terminate user account "JMorris"

Terminate user account "JMorris" from XOOPS Project's official websites.

Due to http://www.xoops.org user "JMorris" hijack hehaviors on XOOPS Project servers and the Project's official site http://www.xoops.org, the XOOPS Project Council is terminating the user account "JMorris" on the XOOPS Project's all official websites and work places.

If a valid request is made, the evidence will be provided, with a disclaimer that is not to be disclosed to anyone else.

Defamation of character in a libel statement.

If you going to make libellous statements I would like the proof to be presented too, to back these claims legally.

Without such proof being presented this shows as being fictitious and illegal by libel statements and defamation of character.

The above claims made by the "XOOPS Council" are false accusations and could be considered defamation of character.

I have provided evidence to the XOOPS Foundation and XOOPS Council that clearly indicates my authorization as an Administrator on this site until 10/08/07. On 10/08/07 I officially relinquished all privileges to all XOOPS Foundation resources. This is documented.

@XOOPS Council - Correction, the time stamp on the sent email is October 8th, 2007.

I think JMorris's actions were wrong, but I would not characterize them as "hijack behaviors". In my opinion, he used privileges that he had been given legitimately in a manner that he felt was for the benefit of the project.

The course of action here should be to communicate and work together, not create more conflict.

Agreed on the point of communication.

My actions were to restore the privileges to XOOPS resources to where they were PRIOR to them being changed without proper authorization by another party.

And YES, I have the documentation to prove it and I have submitted that documentation.

Don't ban him! I say applaud him! At least he was trying to do something about the problems here in XOOPS land.

There is no way this issue (or a number of other recent disputes) should be posted as public news items.

I thought the teams had private forums for thrashing these things out?

Due to another guy's hijack hehaviors on XOOPS Project, hijacking user accounts and damaging information he got banned by the past management team then the new management team unbanned him.

Now this accusation?! under what fundaments?

In his resignation on June 28, 2007, JMorris states clearly

By making any changes to the server, he clearly violated his own resignation. A written, public resignation which was accepted, cannot be withdrawn unilaterally without the consensus of the council.

If an employee resigns from a company, and then two months later accesses company network and makes changes without consensus of the management, he would be prosecuted under criminal law.

Unless JMorris can show that he requested permission from the Council or from the Foundation, and received it, then he is in breach of his resignation. If he obtained a permission BEFORE he made the changes, then the entity that gave him the permission would have to prove that indeed it had the right to give him the permission.

Not knowing all the "internal details", I think this all is extremely unfortunate for XOOPS, and legally very shaky for JMorris.

As I stated somewhere else, let's take a break and stop any actions/discussions till next week, so we can step back, reflect, and hopefully next week will be able to clear this mess.

Another suggestion - let's ask somebody credible from Apache foundation or another well known Open Source project as a mediator and mentor to resolve this mess here. Obviously the current setup is not working and current leaders and wannabe leaders don't put the XOOPS interests first.

I think that's a great idea...An outsider with a vested interest in open source but doesn't have an agenda in regards to XOOPS.
