Netquery 2.4 Adds "Sniffer" Options

NEW in Netquery Version 2.4
Client Info Display Options!
See it HERE! Download it HERE! Discuss it HERE!

Version 2.4 of Netquery, the complete PHP/SQL open-source toolkit of network information utilities, adds new client "sniffer" info display options for both the main interface and CMS side blocks. For international sites, this version also includes an administrator selection to set the default whois TLD and its translatable "vocabulary" has been extended to the full administrative interface. Other improvements are primarily coding refinements to ensure compliance with current CMS API standards. Some data tables have been consolidated or replaced entirely by CMS API configuration options. Amongst other considerations, these changes should better facilitate version updates, especially in the case of the Xoops edition.

xyp4all - Keeping Track of People!

With the release of version 1.57 of xyp4all, XOOPS finally has a flexible way to keep track of contacts. They can be organized into different regions, categories or even relationships. You can add different roles - administrative, functional or whatever you choose. Each can have a picture, a description and you can even add comments. And the list continues.

Another alternative use is for a family tree or keeping track of your genealogy!

Enjoy!

ColorXoops Theme !

ColorXoops by Anblik Web Design Company

INTRODUCTION:

- Color is considered one of the most useful and powerful design tools we have. People respond to different colors in different ways, and these responses take place on a subconscious, emotional level. Anblik Web Design Company will create series of themes for XOOPS CMS based on all 10 colors given below.

- Red, Yellow, Blue, Orange, Green, Purple, Gray, Brown, White, Black

- Green is my favorite color, so, I have decided to start ColorXoops series with Green, and named it GreenXoops....

- As you might have seen on the ColorXoops website, modules like news, articles, downloads, section, forum, and others are given only to show how it will look if you apply GreenXoops theme. If you wish, you can use Forum, but everything written in ColorXoops website is only for demonstration purpose and to release themes to public.

Software patents may threaten the future of Xoops!

Innovation, knowledge sharing and building on existing ideas and methods are fundamental and essential to healthy software development, regardless of whether it is open source or commercial. It also happens that these very attributes are exactly the opposite of what of the worlds sociopathic multinational corporations consider to be in their own best interest. It was a very sad day yesterday when the European Council decided to adopt the Computer Implemented Inventions Directive despite opposition from Denmark, Poland and Portugal. Due to technology such as the Internet, software distribution is no longer bound be geographical location, and as such this decision by the European Council will have worldwide implications. There is one last hope for some common sense to be injected into this whole sorry state, and that is if the European Parliament amend or reject this directive. If they fail, then it will become much more a matter of due process for this perversion of democracy to become a reality. It is of critical importance that everyone who uses computers in any capacity have a basic understanding of what the Computer Implemented Inventions Directive means in practical terms. To do this you'll need to know; What are patents? Why are they bad, and who will benefit from them?

What is at stake?

What can you do?

To find out more please read the full article.

Security Bulletin: TURN OFF CUSTOM AVATAR UPLOAD

A vulnerability has been reported in the XOOPS core that allows registered users to upload possibly malicious scripts to the webserver.

The vulnerability is in the upload of custom avatars and until we have complete overview of the consequences and correction of this exploit, we advise all XOOPS site administrators to TURN OFF CUSTOM AVATAR UPLOAD in System Admin -> Preferences -> User Info Settings -> "Allow Custom Avatar Upload"

ALSO, do NOT allow any non-trusted users to upload images through the image manager. i.e. in Administration Menu -> System Admin -> Images edit each and every category to NOT allow uploading by non-trusted usergroups.

We will keep you informed as soon as we have a fix for this exploit.
