Slovenian XOOPS support site moves to a new server
Slovenia is a small country near Italy, Europe.
We had a lot of problems with the old server and we couldn't provide decent support to Slovenian XOOPS users. So, now we are pleased to announce that there are still many good people in the world.
The organisation Kreatura offered us free professionall hosting because they support open source projects. We are very grateful!
[size=x-small]After some development time, the Veteran clan now has a new template for their website. This site is completely powered by Xoops and is partially modified to suit the demands of this 21+ international gaming clan.
Although the theme still suffers from several necessary drawbacks (like fixed width), we hope the theme is received positively by our vast user community.
Please provide me (reply here, pm me or mail to: horatio@veteranclan.com) with any necessary feedback.
All hail the mighty XoOps development and support teams for enabling the creative!
Earlier this week, I had some conversations with James from GulfTech Research and Development about a security hole in the XML-RPC interface.
We worked together on finding a solution and also found one - but unfortunately it was not a universal solution, which we now correct with XOOPS 2.0.13 that also solves some other sanitation issues where the server's magic_quotes_gpc settings was not taken correctly into consideration.
Everyone is urged to upgrade to 2.0.13 at earliest convenience and the XOOPS Core Development team apologizes for the high frequency of updates this week.
Upgrade Instructions 1. Download Patch 2. Extract Patch 3. Upload Patch files (four files) to webserver 4. That's it - no need to update System Module for this one
Xoops Tips is pleased to release a short guide on Xoops search engine (mainly on Google) optimization. It also attempts to clarifies the myth or misception about Short URLs or Simplified URLs. Do they help? Yes, according to our experience.
This little guide is work-in-progress. We are looking for comments and suggestions. Depending on the responses, we may release a "final" version in the near future.
After literally about 18 months of trying to find a decent CMS solution to overhaul my old website Destroy-All-Monsters.com, I finally stumbled upon XOOPS. I'm happy to say that after 5 months of hard work, we've finally launched under a new title and URL: http://www.yellow-menace.com! If you dig Asian Pop Culture (anime, movies, music, etc.) please stop by and have a look. I think Xoops has made a huge impact on the useability of our site, and am looking forward to taking advantage of all it's features. Thanks!
Just last Friday, we released XOOPS v2.0.11, but during the weekend, I had a great deal of communication with James from GulfTech Security Research, who helped me find and fix a couple of holes in the XML-RPC interface and the comment system.
Also, work done by XOOPS JP and JM2 and the zx team helped with a couple of other bugs and issues.
We therefore recommend everyone to upgrade to version 2.0.12a, available from this site.
Upgrade instructions: 1. Download patch 2. Extract patch 3. Upload patch to webserver (NOTE: ONLY upload modules/newbb/post.php if you use Newbb version 1.0) 4. Update System Module 5. That's it
