XOOPS Site of the Month

Resized Image

Yes, … finally … while having to deal with some private affairs in the past weeks, I’m back to regular with the xoops site of the month “december 2006″ contest and the results for month november 2006. Sorry for being some days behind the schedule but I think we will manage it though?

Like we did in the past, the voting form is available only for registered, but you might want to look at the different xoops usage examples as well if you are not a registered visitor.

Thanks!

Eskisehir City Portal eskport.com

Resized Image

We have created a city Portal http://www.eskport.com with Xoops. The portal is for a small city of Turkey called Eskisehir. We have prepeared ourself to build a bigger portal for more people with this portal.

The main thing for this portal site is the modifications. The site is based on Xoops 2.0.16 but we changed most of the template files and edited lots of php to fit our needs. First we modified the xmspotlight module for a better main page, we used a custom menu made with a menu generator, applied a photo hack to user profiles and added some more fields, made some modifications on the theme for SEO, and used Xpress as a funny dictionary module, used icontent as city guide.

With lots of modifications we are now seeing how flexible xoops is. We made everything we need with a professional site look.

This Eskisehir Portal site eskport.com showed us that we should build our next comprehensive site with Xoops again

Dr. Allen Website

I have just opened up a new XOOPS 2.0.16 website for a dentist's office. The site is available from either:

http://dr-allen.com or
http://rodneyallendds.com

This site is a bit different for me. This site makes rather extensive use of Flash, something I haven't done with XOOPS before. It also has a flash entry portal page. As with all my most recent sites this site theme is fully wire frame and w3c compliant. The site also makes use of the css min-width command (which works with most browsers except IE 6 and under, and MAC IE, I'm told).

Please visit the site, sign our GuestMap and let me know what you think.

Pax vobiscum,
...mark

PS. I'm still working on a couple of pages...

Questionnaire regarding Supporting PHP5 and MySQL5

Following Mithrandir's release of the excellent SmartProfile module for Xoops 2.0.16, the question of which version of PHP (and to some extent MySQL) should we as Xoops devs (both core and module) be supporting, has arisen.

To help in determining who is running what and where, and more importantly who will be running what in the future, I've put together a very simple and quick questionnaire at Xoobs.net. Please help us to gather some important information about your PHP and MySQL usage by completing THE QUESTIONNAIRE.

You will need to enquire of your hosters first, if you don't already know the answer.

Data collected here will be passed back to Xoops.org to help developers plan their strategies.
