Two new cool Websites from Brazil

The Web design team Bertholdo Consultoria from Brasil developed two beautiful Websites using XOOPS. Both of them are very creative and show that with the right mixture of talent and creativity, sky is the limit for XOOPS Developers.
To be honest, I would never know that they are made in XOOPS, because they look so un-XOOPS

But exactly because of that, they are a true inspiration for XOOPS developers to test the limits in their designs and creativity, and go beyond the typical boxy look and feel.

Congratulations to the designers!!! It is people like them who are showing the true power of XOOPS and its limitless capabilities!

And now the Websites:

xcgal: "Upload more pictures" and "keywords"

Xcgal users will be familiar with the "Upload more pictures" function which allows up to four pictures to be uploaded in one go and will know about xcgal's "click on a keyword" search function which locates all pictures having the chosen keyword. Keywords are therefore a really important tool for xcgal users.

Unfortunately, users will also know that keywords cannot be entered for pictures uploaded using the "Upload more pictures" function - they can only be added by editing the picture later.

...... until now

I've amended two xcgal files (db_input.php and xcgal_uploadmore.html) to allow keywords to be entered using the "Upload more pictures" function and the time of upload.

I've packed the amended files and their (renamed originals - it will be obvious!!) into this zip file.

Hope it is useful.

Text wrap Xcgal template

I always have problem with the text in the description area of xcgal module, if you write a long description and do not take care of the breal lines your ouput text will result in a long text line, so I modify the template xcgal_display.html and around the line #29 look for a code like this:
<td align="center" class="odd" height="100" style="white-space: nowrap; padding: 0px;">
and proceed to change to this one:
<td align="center" class="odd" height="100" style="white-space: wrap; padding: 0px;">

As you see we change the nowrap for wrap, that makes the trick at least in my case, hope it will solve the problem for another xooper

XOOPS 2.3.0 Alpha 2 Release

The XOOPS Development Team is pleased to announce the release of XOOPS 2.3.0 Alpha 2.

The objective of XOOPS 2.3 releases is to merge the two existent branches of 2.0 and 2.2 and to build a bridge towards our next generation of XOOPS: the Version 3.0.

With XOOPS 2.3 release, users will be able to learn some of new features that will be available in XOOPS 3.0, while developers can understand better the direction of XOOPS development, and designers can learn what features will be supported in the future.

Both backward and forward compatibility will be guaranteed as much as possible. Modules written for 2.0.* and 2.2.* will work with 2.3; applications developed for 2.3 will be compatible with Version 3.0 automatically.

Developers are encouraged to write their new application modules on XOOPS 2.3 so they can incorporate some of the new features and ensure easy migration to Version 3.0.

XOOPS goes PHP5

XOOPS 3.0 to support exclusively PHP5+ This is to announce that starting with Version 3.0, we'll be supporting exclusively PHP 5.2 and up. The XOOPS 2.3 (check out the Alpha 2 Release) will be our last release series supporting PHP4. There are several reasons for doing this: 1) we have limited resources, so it's hard to keep maintaining two different platforms.

new theme isw_green

This is a simple yet stylish theme based on the default xoops theme, but using CSS rather than table-based layout.

You can download it from my site at Inspiration Web Design

Resized Image

The colour scheme is green. Since all widths are specified using percentages the view will automatically adapt itself to the screen resolution.

You can view an example page here.

The theme has been tested in Internet Explorer, Opera and Firefox. It has been designed for Xoops version 2, so may not be backwards compatible.
