XOOPS: Module Repository Cleaner Needed

We are about to clean up the whole file repository here on xoops.org as well as the repository on SourceForge.net

Since this is quite a large task, I would very much like some help with it.

Anyone with a bit of time to spare would be welcomed with open arms and a big thank you.

Tasks involved are:
a) Ensure that the file repository has no broken links
b) Ensure that the files listed are the latest version
c) Update listings to the latest version
d) Ensure that the files are in the right category

a) Just a suggestion, would there be useful to look at somekind of automated link checker (such as Netmechanic Toolbox, Pro version checks upto 5000 links and costs $60) to check for broken links? Might save a lot of man hours and possible confusion.

b) Ensuring latest versions for everything is going to be a BIG task. Lots of hands on deck for this one.

c) Continuation of task b

d) Any ideas for how this will be decided?

I'm in, but how are we going to manage all this?

Might we worth contacting the author of modules and themes and asking them to check their own data. it is easier to keep track of, and each person only has to do 3 or 4 entries...

PLus you have the emails for most of the entries as well right? Or it would be very easy to just mail each member about their entries, rather than using the email in the DL section...

So something like putting a news article, forum post etc where people SIGN UP to this scheme, then do a mail out to THOSE people about what is required.
