Fellow xoopsers:

This is to announce you Wordbook. As you can surely guess from the name, Wordbook is a glossary module for your XOOPS site. It offers you the possibility of defining a single-category or a multiple-category glossary. It's Smarty templated. Has its own search function (and is XOOPS searchable too). I hope some of you can find in your sites a place for this little module. Pick your favorite flavor, install it and share with us your bug reports, ideas for improvement or comments.

As you can see, this is a version 0.99 release. With your help, it'll be easy to spot and kill the remaining bugs, and then to release a bug-free version 1.0.

Have installed it on local machine and seems to working good , will be installing it on my site today if time dosent beat me

I've installed it and it works but on the index page there are some stuff missing. Check here.

I'll leave this version up for a bit so you can see, but I'll go back to 0.93 which has the least issues.

i just checked your link out seems that the url is missing * wordbook * eg yoursite/modules//entry.php instead of yoursite/modules/wordbook/entry.php are you using a url rewrite hack of any type .

I have installed it Here

Seems if you have a html in the heading it dosent convert in the index listing summary or when you do a seach

The issues I've seen here seem all easily fixable. And they reminded me that the template is not that good with CSS based sites. But that's also relatively easy to fix.

Great module Installation went smooth, up until now I haven't found any probs with it.
The feature in being able of creating categories makes this modules great! It makes this module more flexible. You can use it for multiple different purpose.
However there is one small request:
I've noticed that the field 'reference' isn't included in the search function. I think this should be added. Not only search within the terms/definition, but also crawling through the reference field. It doesn't need to be visible within the search option (selector)! Perhaps you could add this field? Otherwise would it be possible in helping out how to add this searchfield ?

But please take care of Soapbox development
so you can release a bugs-free version of this long awaited module.

I changed back to version 0.93, which has only the image problems. I was using this module for about a month since I liked it so much and could not wait for the official release. I could go back to version 0.99 if anyone needs to see what I was talking about.

I've checked and rechecked with my test configuration, with a new site, with the local module and with a downloaded copy, but I can't reproduce the problem visible in your site. Would you be kind enough to download the module again and try it? Also, please have in mind I haven't really worked in an upgrade script, so you'll have to uninstall and then reinstall, backing up first the content of your tables so you don't lose your definitions.

ozboof: By definition, in Wordbook the only field that accepts HTML code is the definition field. All the rest accept only text. If you insert HTML code there, it won't render at all.

The images problem is not that easy to solve because I can't know beforehand in what kind of position and width will the random block be. So the ideal would be that in case there's an image within the first x characters of the definition, the module should use regex to take the image out and display only the definition on the block.

As to the showing of images whenever you have a definition, the issue is easily fixed. I'll use as an example the index.php page. Look for line 199:

$deftemp = $myts -> displayTarea ( substr ( $myrow['definition'], 0, ( $xoopsModuleConfig['rndlength'] -1 ))) . "...";

and replace it with these two lines:
Quote:

$deftemp = substr ( $myrow['definition'], 0, ( $xoopsModuleConfig['rndlength'] -1 ));
$deftemp = $myts -> displayTarea ( $deftemp, 1, 1, 1, 1) . "...";

Now your images will show as correctly as the image manager can handle them, which means the image and the text are touching each other.

A solution I often use in textareas is to use HTML and define a floating DIV like this:
Quote:

Here goes the text...

This means there's a 10 pixel space between the image and the text.

I'll do the necessary changes to the module and post here when I refresh the files.

The other thing I still haven't repaired is the display of the index file for sites using CSS based themes. These themes break the page because of some CSS instructions placed in the template. As soon as I repair it and test it using a CSS theme, I'll post here.

I fully uninstalled version 0.93 then installed ver 0.99 and it works fine. The only thing is the images. I'll wait for the updated files. Thanks.

EDIT:: I have a few definitions with links to other definitions within workbook and whenever I click on them a new window opens. It would be nice not to have this happen.

Submit an Entry (both from menu and button) gives the following error:

@ Mariuss & GOwin:

Could you post your settings? I've tried with no success to reproduce both errors. Even created a new new XOOPS site with News and Wordbook as the only modules. Couldn't see any of these errors.

Tried with a registered user and with the admin, and in both cases could submit words and saw the blocks correctly.

As you can guess, it's very difficult to solve a problem I can't reproduce... Sorry.
