Hi,

have recently taken over a site from my late father with Xoops
2.0.16 system on it and a news module. However there is some problem with the module and after reading some posts I would rather install a new NEWS module and import the database of the old module.

Could you please tell me which NEWS module(s) version(s) are compatible with 2.0.16. And where to find a proper and working version on either the repository or a working and active download link.

What version of News do you have?
Which problems do you have with it?

I have removed it, please just tell me what news module I should use for 2.01.16

someone messed around on the files before.

Probably News 1.56 (or 1.44).

it's better to upgrade your XOOPS version in order to profit more from newest modules and options. we are testing now XOOPS 2.4.5 rc2.

Dear Mariane,

I am convinced and I will install the latest version on a subfolder and will test it thoroughly, however then you or Ghia please be so kind and give me a list of the

modules currently running on xoops.org
with working and active download links.

Also a blog module which works on the current version.

After reading through several posts I do not want to mess around in the beginning with modules who might and might not work on the current version.

From there on I will build the site and this will us ( the community and me save a lot of time and hassle to engage in more productive matters )

you know I rather refrain from beta and other not stable versions in the beginning because I do not want to lose my feeling in the beginning.

The testing I can make later if I have felt some kind of success.

That is not of much use, unless you want to make a XOOPS community site.

You have to decide on the purpose of your site and then install modules to fulfill that purpose. Example are the module packs. Until they are updated, some time soon, use them as inspiration and look out for the modules' latest and compatible versions, which are listed on BabylonXOOPS and download them from the developers site or from the repository.

Install an internet server on your local PC as eg XAMPP.
It allows you to check out easy and quickly all modules you want.

Ok, then please give me the download links and versions of following modules on xoops.org site which is using the current version 2.4.4 , correct

I would say it does not matter which site I am building or trying to improve but want just things which will work.

And the ones following are working and running on xoops.org
(P.S. some or them I do of course not need like the repository)


1) News
2) Wf channel
3) Forum I believe it should be newbb
4) smartfaq
5) extgallery
6) xoopspartners.

As you said with the rest I might need I will have to play with but first I want to make things sure.

I do not think this is so difficult to understand.

P..S. I would like to add that I have visited several sites setup with Xoops and at least 1 up to 50% of the installed modules on these sites are not working or having problems.

Plus I did read posts so again Safety first - "Stupidity" after.

First let us the car run then we may decide to modify or tune it.


Once again I believe this is in the interest of all current xoops users, members an the future compatriots.
