We've been working with Heyula on developing some new templates for Publisher. But we need more designers to work together on this. Publisher is an excellent module, with a lot of potential to become even better, but we need the help from more designers, but so far, except for Heyula, we didn't get much reaction from the designers

the problem is not only in the templates, we need to adjust the feautures, for example we need to choose from the settings the blog mode so the blog templates will be automatically loaded : authors articles, tags, jquery...etc
currently publisher is using 2% of its power. I think we need a developer to fix the code, then a designer to work on the templates. a real workshop.

unfortunately that publisher isn't developed anymore, we need such smart features in next versions of xoops.
publisher is more than a normal module, it could be used for blogs, news, articles, content, photo album. but we need to set a template for each kind of them.

dear chefry, I advise you to use the theme default to start your own theme, clean it and make it responsive and update the codes to html5.
fixed widh themes suits for forum websites, or games...etc but to make a business theme it's better to fix the width especially if you are using a slider.

Jquery mobile is very useful, we have to integrate it in all our xoops themes to get a good view with mobiles.
but I think in XOOPS we need our own native mobile application.
I started working on the project few months ago, it requires objective C, but I had exceptional family circumstances so I stoped everything.

there is 2 kinds of phone applications :
- you can do a jquery mobile and sure you can integrate it to your cms (xoops or any other cms). this is an example from my websitehttp://www.maitsco.net/mobile-dev/#/mobile-dev/portfolio.php, I tried to integrate a part of publisher to the app by connecting to xoops db.
once you finish, you have to go to phonegap.com to create the sdk for all phones. then publish the app the the stores (app stores, google play...etc).
- an app made by using xcode (for iphones) or objective c or javascript.
it's more complicated, but also you can integrate your cms to it.

I guess that Simon can make such work for you.

What do you mean?
You can do this now with the "blocks anywhere" hack.
(May need to update it for 2.5.5 if you are using the newest stable xoops)
You can go further with this with the block permissions to show a block or not on a page.

Block anywhere allows you to place a block anywhere in your theme, but what you can do if the module dosnt have a block? for example if you wish to show a quick contact us form in your footer, what is the best solution to do it with xoops? the module contact dosnt have a block.

I am using publisher as content module for all websites, it's so nice but it isn't dedicated to make a content.
I think we need something that contains :
- many editors
- social icons
- extended search
- rss feed
- possibility to add many new fields (if possible)
- nice and modern templates and blocks.

all these features are available in publisher, so I think we can create 3 templates inside this module :
1- to be used as blog
2- to be used for articles and news
3- to be used as content module.

what do you think?
