lol.. ok, I am back..ish.. (feel like a noob again!)

I am doing a website for a food company and want to use xoops, but have these questions if I may:

1) What's the best version of XOOPS to use? i.e. most stable, secured etc

2) The company needs people to vote on the food they sell etc so, I need a module like "awards" or something.. example, admin adds vegetable burgers, beef burgers and chicken burgers.. a user registered or not clicks on what one they like best.. then check results and have like.. Top Ten?.. maybe something like the Best Site og the Month awards that XOOPS shows?

I know this can be done in XoopsPolls etc but something a little more advanced, maybe the user can add the food? etc

Ive been using XOOPS for 3 years now, and everytime I set up a new installation, I feel like a noob.

Since I never had any use for a module that would do the things you want it to do, I need too dig some before I can answare your second question, but I think I can answare your first:


2.0.X:
Have been mature for a long time.
It have Alot more supported Modules then 2.2.X.
2.2.3 is Based on the 2.0.X Brach, hench, Upgrading will be easier when that time comes (not to long I hope)

2.2.X:
As I understood, it was a hastly release, making most of the modules unsupported (Many of the most popluar modules have been updated by now, but for lesser used modules...:O)
Has A better Default theme, in my opinion.

Have some crashes once in awhile. Especaly when installing 2.0.X modules, often ends up showing only blank screen, if not careful, forcing you to reinstall.

Shot me If im wrong.

Even though if Im not completly right in the above, I know that the module support parts are right, hench, for your spesific module neeed, I would go for 2.0.X

It was late when I posted so I was kinda sleepy etc but I have had a look around and found the pieces on 2.0.13.2 being the XOOPS recomended stable release so I think I'll go with that one.

With my other issue, I am thinking maybe the links modules may work, like.. mylinks etc, people can add own sites to the module, just need to know how to add this in with the polls... mix them up!
