Hello great community

I am about to build a web-site based on the great XOOPS technology.

my question is: Should I wait for XOOPS 2.3 or should I use 2.0.x?

Will the 2.0.x versions remain in productions for patches and fixes?

thanks in advance

XOOPS 2.3 will be the development version for the stable 2.4 (following the Linux Kernel versioning scheme where odd versions are unstable, and even versions are stable). Alas, 2.2.3 (not the difference in version!) isn't stable yet.
It depends on what you're trying to achieve. If it *requires* features only available in 2.2.x, then that would be your best chouce. It's not as stable as we would like it to be tho. But then again, it's only had a couple of months for everyone to eyeball for bugs, while the 2.0.x series has over 2 years of eyeballing, making it very stable.

2.0.x will remain to be supported and patched and updated, yes. No new features, but bugfixes and security patches, yes. We're not dropping that just yet

I faced a similar predicament a few months back. I decided to stick with 2.0 because a) it's stable, well tested, and secure but in addition, all the modules work for it (except recently developed one's that have been developed only for 2.2. but they are few and far between). At the moment, deveopers are trying hard to upgrade their modules for 2.2. usage and many are being made cross-compatible for both XOOPS versions (The News 1.42 module being one such example).

So I stuck with 2.0 on the basis that it is still being maintained and there's plenty of module choice.
